Education in the face of the changes brought about by technology and artificial intelligence was the focus of discussions at the opening of the Bett Nordeste 2026 Conference, held this Wednesday (19) at the Recife Expo Center. Under the theme “Intelligences in Action: Experiences That Transform Education, ” the event—which runs through tomorrow—brings together more than 70 speakers, 50 exhibiting brands, and an audience of educators, administrators, experts, and representatives from government and the private sector to reflect on the challenges and opportunities arising from new technologies in the educational environment.

The opening panel featured Bett Brasil’s Director of Content, Adriana Martinelli; the president of SINEPE-PE, José Ricardo Diniz; and City Councilwoman Ana Lúcia do Rego Ferreira, with journalist Renata Araújo serving as moderator. Also participating were government representatives Eduardo Fonseca ( Recife City Hall) and Natanael José da Silva (Government of Pernambuco).

Adriana Martinelli emphasized that the concept of “intelligences” adopted by the conference goes beyond artificial intelligence. In her view, it is essential to recognize the importance of human, social, and collective intelligence and to foster dialogue among these different dimensions so that transformation in education can truly take place.

“The issue of artificial intelligence is advancing in terms of the impact of new technologies on education in a very comprehensive and intense way, with many possibilities, because everyone has the tool at their fingertips all the time, 24 hours a day—but there isn’t just one kind of intelligence. When these intelligences engage in dialogue and converse with one another, they can transform education. The transformation lies in action,” Adriana emphasized. According to her, the goal of the conference is to facilitate encounters and connections that allow participants to turn their reflections into concrete experiences.

The director also encouraged participants to take advantage of the event not only to seek answers, but also to formulate new questions, establish connections among professionals from the public and private sectors, and learn about the solutions presented by the exhibitors.

Councilwoman Ana Lúcia do Rego Ferreira was thrilled to reconnect with many colleagues and friends from the education field at the event. “I say I’m a councilwoman, but I’m a teacher. I’ve been a teacher in the municipal school system for 31 years, and I also come from the private school system. My career actually began there, in the private school system. In fact, I’ve brought to politics what I know how to do best, which is to be a teacher. And for us to move forward as legislators, this is also a challenge: setting limits, creating rules, and ensuring that technology is available to everyone, but that it’s used responsibly and appropriately, ”she says.

Participants emphasized that the advent of artificial intelligence and other technologies does not replace the role of the teacher, but rather expands the possibilities in the classroom. In this process, initial and continuing teacher training takes on a strategic role. Preparing future educators and teachers to deal with artificial intelligence, digital technologies, and their impacts on learning was identified as an urgent issue if education is to keep pace with social and technological changes.

The opening program also underscored the need to bring together the different segments of the education sector. Representatives from the sector emphasized that educational challenges cannot be addressed in isolation and that collaboration among public schools, private institutions, administrators, teachers, businesses, and experts is essential to developing new solutions.

80th Anniversary of SINEPE-PE

The fifth edition of the Bett Nordeste Conference also marks the 80th-anniversary celebrations of the Union of Private Educational Institutions in the State of Pernambuco (SINEPE-PE), which is co-organizing the event alongside Bett Brasil, highlighting the organization’s long history of advocating for and advancing education in Pernambuco.

The choice of Jornada Bett as the venue for the celebrations reinforces the goal of looking toward the future without losing sight of the history the institution has built over eight decades. The partnership was highlighted as the result of a joint effort to strengthen the educational debate in the state and expand connections among different stakeholders in the sector.

“Attendees at the Bett Conference can sense the professionalism the moment they walk in here. This is done with great enthusiasm, dedication, and goodwill. The event is the result of this sense of community, this effort, and the desire to do things right,” says José Ricardo Diniz, president of SINEPE-PE.

The Bett Nordeste Conference features lectures, panel discussions, case studies, and educational solutions, addressing topics related to technology, artificial intelligence, professional development, management, innovation, and the new challenges faced by educators and educational institutions.

Those interested can still register under two categories. The “visitor” category provides free access to the exhibition area and the full program of the Public Education Auditorium. The “conference attendee” category includes access to the three conference auditoriums, the exhibition area, and a certificate of participation. On the second day, the exhibition will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and the conference program will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Register here.
