Generative artificial intelligence has arrived to help (and shake up) our lives and make us question how and where we need human creativity.

This new magical tool can write poems, create works of art, and even compose symphonies—all without needing a coffee break to find inspiration. On the contrary… it does all that while we’re on our coffee break. It’s not quite like having a genie from a lamp at our disposal 24 hours a day, but it might be the closest thing we’ll ever get to that.

But wait a minute! Before you start getting too excited or despairing, I need to let you in on a little secret: generative AI isn’t the solution to all of humanity’s problems—it won’t wash your dishes, it won’t take your dog for a walk, and, unfortunately, it won’t give you a hug when you’re sad (not yet, anyway!).

Generative AI is like a person full of energy and wild ideas, but who still needs well-structured guidance, instructions, and commands. It can create incredible texts, but sometimes it confuses fact with fiction and can end up spreading misinformation. And, just like any teenager, it’s constantly evolving. Have you ever thought about having an AI that can predict the future? Or one that can read your mind and give you the best advice?

What is “Agent-Based AI”?

These aren't available yet, but have you heard of "Agentic AI"? Agentic AI represents a revolutionary breakthrough in artificial intelligence, combining the power of cutting-edge AI with automation to create autonomous agents capable of understanding, building, and executing complex processes. This innovative technology is shaping the future of work and has the potential to profoundly transform education.

While generative AI, such as ChatGPT, focuses on creating new and original content, agentic AI (I’m not sure what the term is in Portuguese, but I’ve decided to translate it this way) prioritizes action. Instead of simply generating text, images, or music, AI agents are designed to perform tasks and achieve specific goals. They can interact with their environment, make decisions, and learn from their experiences.
