Bett Brasil, the organizer of the largest Innovation and Technology for Education event in Latin America, announces the new composition of its Advisory Board, which is responsible for supporting its strategies and initiatives, identifying trends, and fostering relationships with the education sector throughout the year.

Renewed every two years, the composition of the Bett Brasil Advisory Board will feature a new addition starting with the 2024–2026 term: the inclusion of a new strategic committee, the EdTechs group. In total, there will be six committees made up of secretaries of education, educational leaders, principals, administrators, educators, and executives from educational institutions and the education sector.

The Council plays an essential role in supporting Bett Brasil’s initiatives in various contexts, such as by helping to curate content and experts, liaising with the educational community, and providing guidance on the strategic direction of various initiatives. In addition, council members actively participate in Bett Brasil events and contribute to communication channels, including the Bett Blog and Conexão Bett.

Among the council’s responsibilities is supporting the organization of the content program for the 30th edition of the event, featuring the most relevant and significant developments in Brazil and around the world for the entire educational community. The next edition of Bett Brasil will take place from April 28 to May 1, 2025, at Expo Center Norte in São Paulo.

The advisory board members’ collaboration in preparing the event’s content program is a key factor in strengthening ties with educators and professionals in the field to create a focused agenda that addresses education today and offers a vision for the future,” says Adriana Martinelli, Director of Content at Bett Brasil.

Six Strategic Committees

With the addition of a new strategic committee—EdTechs—the Bett Brasil Advisory Board is now divided into: the Strategic Policy Committee, the Basic Education Committee, the Higher Education Committee, the Vocational Education Committee, the Governance Committee, and the EdTechs Committee.

“The growth of EdTech companies in recent years proves that startups—which develop innovations that go beyond the traditional learning model—are driving the search for alternative solutions to long-standing challenges at educational institutions across the country. The decision to add a committee linked to this ecosystem came about very organically, given that the presence of startups at Bett Brasil is growing at a rapid pace,” says Adriana. 

Below is the composition of each of the six committees established by Bett Brasil:

Governance Committee

• Alessio Costa Lima, Municipal Director of Education for Ibaretama (CE) and president of the National Union of Municipal Directors of Education (Undime).
• Helio Daher, Secretary of State for Education of Mato Grosso do Sul.
• Maria Silvia Bacila, Curitiba's Municipal Secretary of Education.
• Roni Miranda, Secretary of State for Education of Paraná.

Strategic Political Committee

• Alexsandro do Nascimento Santos, director of Policies and Guidelines for Comprehensive Basic Education at the Ministry of Education.
• Dr. Seiji Isotani, full professor of computer science at the University of São Paulo (USP), associate researcher at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and president of the International Society for Artificial Intelligence in Education.

Basic Education Committee

• Amábile Pacios, vice president of the National Federation of Private Schools (FENEP), member of the National Education Council, and president of the Dromos Educational Group.
• Alexandre Le Voci Sayad, director of ZeitGeist and co-chair of the UNESCO MIL Alliance.
• Guilherme Cintra, Director of Innovation and Technology at the Lemann Foundation.
• Janine Rodrigues, writer and founder of the edtech company Piraporiando.
• Julia Sant'Anna, executive director of the Center for Innovation in Brazilian Education (CIEB).
• Katia Stocco Smole, executive director of the Reúna Institute.

Higher Education Committee

• Arthur Galamba, director of the PGCE Science program at King's College London and co-founder and director of Collabits.
• Alexandre Marino, full professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC).
• Débora Guerra, CEO of Trivento Educação and vice president of the Brazilian Association of Higher Education Institutions (ABMES).
• Fabricio Lazilha, Director of Academic Planning at Vitru Educação.
• Romero Tori, associate professor at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (Poli-USP) and tenured faculty member in the Graduate Program in Design at the School of Architecture and Urbanism at USP.
• Wagner Sanchez, Vice President for Academic Affairs at FIAP. 

Professional Education Committee

• Felipe Morgado, superintendent of SENAI’s Vocational and Higher Education Unit.
• Luciano Meira, adjunct professor of psychology at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFP), adjunct professor at CESAR School, and coordinator of Science and Innovation at PROZ Educação.
• Maria Odete Perrone, director of the technical schools at the J&F Institute.
• Rodrigo Dib, Institutional and Innovation Superintendent at the Center for Business-School Integration (CIEE).

Edtechs Committee

• Lars Janer, founder and CEO of Learnbase and Social Entrepreneurship Ambassador for the London School of Economics in Brazil.
• Leo Gmeiner, founder and CEO of School Guardian.
