With approximately 36.8 million students enrolled in K-12 education, according to the 2025 School Census, Brazil’s public school system faces structural challenges spanning funding, teacher training, and equity.

In a system of this scale, devising solutions requires coordination among public policy, management, and teaching practices. It is against this backdrop that public education will take center stage at Bett Brasil, Latin America’s largest event for innovation and technology in education. The event will be held May 5–8 at Expo Center Norte.

Open to the public free of charge, the initiative will feature a dedicated auditorium, including panel discussions and workshops, to foster reflection, the exchange of experiences, and debates that bring together different stakeholders in the educational ecosystem around a common goal: strengthening Brazilian public education.

Practices That Inspire Real Solutions

Among the new features of this edition is the “Practices and Solutions” section, which highlights concrete experiences developed in different regions of the country. The section will showcase practices related to topics such as the use of artificial intelligence by public school teachers, evaluation for the implementation of edtech solutions, full-time education, and special education.

The goal is to highlight projects that recognize the diversity of contexts in Brazil and point to replicable approaches for administrators and educators.

Schedule

The schedule of panels and lectures at the Public Education Auditorium focuses on discussions that bridge the gap between the formulation and implementation of public policies.

Among the highlights is the panel discussion “The 2024–2034 National Education Plan in Practice: Decisions That Begin Now,” which aims to translate the real-world impacts of the new National Education Plan for administrators and public school systems. The discussion covers everything from funding and federal agreements to concrete implications for learning, taking a direct, action-oriented approach.

Participants in the debate include Helio Daher, Secretary of State for Education of Mato Grosso do Sul; Luiz Miguel Garcia, president of the Union of Municipal Education Directors (Undime); and Petrucio Ferreira, municipal director of education for Goianinha (RN) and president of the Undime-RN chapter .

Another highly relevant topic is the valorization of teachers, addressed in the panel discussion “The ‘Teachers’ ENEM’—Selection, Qualification, and Teaching Careers in the New Context.”In a landscape marked by a shortage of professionals and the growing complexity of educational demands, the panel brings to the forefront criteria for entry into the profession, training, professional development, and career recognition. Participants include Barbara Born, scientific director of Todos Pela Educação, and Manuel Palacios, president of the Anísio Teixeira National Institute for Educational Studies and Research (Inep).

The relationship between schools and public policy-making is also highlighted in the panel “The Intelligence of School Systems: When Public Policies Learn from Schools.” The discussion explores how active listening and the strategic use of data can contribute to more effective decisions, fostering a collective intelligence capable of generating solutions that are better aligned with the reality of school systems. The panel will feature Claudia Costin and Rafael Parente, president and executive director of Instituto Salto, respectively.

The panel titled “National Education System: The Pact That Could Change the Governance of Brazilian Education,” meanwhile, highlights one of the most fundamental debates in the sector. By discussing cooperation among the federal government, states, and municipalities, the event seeks to clarify the practical impacts of implementing the National Education System, particularly with regard to reducing inequalities and developing more consistent and integrated policies.

Participants include Federal Deputy Tabata Amaral and Evânio Araújo, Secretary of Information Management, Innovation, and Educational Policy Evaluation at the Ministry of Education.

In addition to these panels, the program includes topics that reflect contemporary and pressing challenges in public education, such as building an anti-racist education system based on Afrofuturism, implementing inclusive education, partnerships between the public and private sectors, and the role of early childhood education in literacy.
