What needs to be done to improve education in the country? There are many answers to this complex question, but the integration and coordination of efforts among the various stakeholders in the education sector is undoubtedly one of the most effective ways to achieve the goal of quality education in Brazil.   

The long-standing partnership between Bett Brasil, the organizer of Latin America’s largest education and technology event, and the National Union of Municipal Education Directors (Undime) is an example of how broadening the dialogue on the sector’s priority issues can be one of the driving forces behind educational transformation.

“This partnership began years ago, enabling public officials to network and learn about educational solutions and innovations that contribute to the improvement of public education, since Bett Brasil is a major forum for exchange and collaboration among different educational stakeholders in Brazil and around the world,” says Luiz Miguel Garcia, president of Undime Nacional and its São Paulo chapter.

He explains that the partnership between the São Paulo chapter and Bett Brasil has been expanded to include Undime Nacional, enabling the integration of municipal education leaders from all Brazilian states. “Our collaboration is an initiative rooted in social responsibility that fosters innovation in both private and public education in São Paulo and Brazil. “It is a successful partnership that adds value for public education administrators as they seek options to offer quality services and products,” says Garcia.

Undime participates in numerous initiatives and activities organized by Bett Brasil throughout the year. At the recent national edition of the event, which took place in May of this year, the organization presented to the public a previously unpublished study on the teaching of digital technologies in municipal schools, held meetings with its expanded board of directors and with the executive secretaries of Undime’s 26 regional chapters, and brought together representatives for several panel discussions at the Bett Brasil Congress.

Another initiative in which the organization is involved is the Bett Brasil Advisory Board. Luiz Miguel was invited to join the Board’s Governance Committee in 2022. The Board’s role is to assist in mentoring and guiding the educational proposals presented at Bett Brasil.

“Institutional relationships—especially through the Bett Brasil Advisory Board—are essential for the event to have a technical agenda that addresses the urgent and emerging needs of all educational sectors in Brazil. This makes Bett Brasil not only the largest Brazilian education event, but also one that delivers solutions and alternatives that contribute to educational innovation and integration. After all, it makes no sense to develop pockets of excellence; we need to work toward achieving equity,” concludes Garcia.

For Bett Brasil Director Claudia Valério, the relationships and exchange of experiences fostered by this partnership with Undime are essential to the mission of transforming education. “Undime is an organization of great national significance for public education.
