Bett Brasil Launches Event for Higher and Vocational Education
A Bett Brazil, Latin America's largest education and technology conference, will launch the Ahead by Bett Now in its 28th edition. This event, focused on higher and vocational education, will take place during Bett Brasil, May 9–12, at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo.
Ahead by Bett aims to foster dialogue about this final stage of education, which prepares students to successfully enter the workforce. Expanding young people’s access to higher education is a current challenge that must be addressed by strengthening public policies on university admissions and investing in the entire educational process for students, starting with basic education.
The country is falling further and further behind in meeting the target set by the National Education Plan (PNE), which establishes a 33% enrollment rate for higher education, scheduled to be reached by 2024. According to data from the Semesp Institute—an analytical intelligence center created by Semesp and responsible for the 2021 Higher Education Map—the net enrollment rate (which measures the percentage of young people aged 18 to 24 enrolled in higher education relative to the total population in that age group) stands at just 18.1%.
For this reason, Ahead by Bett was designed to bring together stakeholders in higher and vocational education, including institutional sponsors, university presidents, educators, faculty members, and suppliers. The goal is to foster an environment for ideas, connections, and the exchange of experiences among educational institutions seeking digital transformation and new learning models and approaches, as well as to provide a platform for suppliers of solutions, products, and services in this sector to showcase new releases and innovations.
Adriana Martinelli, Director of Content at Bett Brasil, explains that the Ahead by Bett initiative has been taking place at the Bett Show UK—an event organized by the global Bett brand and held in London—since last year. “Our goal is to provide a dedicated space for constructive discussion about shaping the future. It’s important that all sectors participate, including higher and vocational education, which cannot be left out,” says Adriana.
The event’s exhibition area is expected to host more than 20 national and international brands, featuring products, solutions, and services tailored to this audience. Among the confirmed exhibitors are Faveni Educational Group; Canvas by Instructure; Adsecurity; Vanzolini Foundation; Ensino Superior Magazine; MUST University; Senai; and FIA Business School, among others.
Another highlight of the new event is the Ahead Auditorium, which will host approximately 16 panel discussions featuring more than 40 speakers. The program will cover five main themes: hybrid learning, employability, innovation (in new teaching models), the integration of extension programs into the curriculum, and the initial training of educators.
Speakers include leading figures in the sector, such as Antonio Carbonari Netto, president of Must University (Florida, U.S.), Rafael Lucchesi, director of Education and Technology at the National Confederation of Industry (CNI); Irineu Gianesi, director of Academic Affairs at Insper; Rodrigo Capelato, executive director of the Union of Higher Education Institution Sponsors in the State of São Paulo (SEMESP); Simone Telles, Academic Director of the Virtual University of the State of São Paulo (Univesp); Carlos Ferrara Junior, Academic Vice President of the São Camilo University Center; Romero Tori, professor at the University of São Paulo (USP); and Juliano Griebeler, Vice President of the National Association of Private Universities (ANUP). Access the program and check out the complete list of speakers.
Ahead By Bett is organized in partnership with ABMES (Brazilian Association of Higher Education Institutions), AMPESC (Association of Private Higher Education Institutions of Santa Catarina); *Ensino Superior* magazine; and Semesp, in addition to support from the Sérgio Henrique Ferreira Chair at the Ribeirão Preto Campus of the Institute of Advanced Studies (IEA-RP); ABED (Brazilian Association of Distance Education); ANEC (National Association of Catholic Education in Brazil); and ANUP (National Association of Private Universities).
