Bett UK Delegation: Event at Samsung's Immersive Space Highlights Technology Trends
Innovative products that could benefit the teaching-and-learning process were tested during an exclusive session for the Brazilian delegation

Environments with lighting, sound, television, air conditioning, and even automated curtains that respond to voice commands. Systems that translate text and speech almost instantly, enabling real-time communication between people who speak different languages. An image search tool built into the cell phone. LED screens and interactive panels with application management. These were some of the technologies that members of the Bett UK delegation were able to experience on Tuesday (23) during a visit to Samsung KX, the brand’s main immersion and demonstration space in London.

“It was interesting because we saw a lot of new technology—the very latest innovations—that we can use in education. Some technologies—the very best ones—were truly new to me,” said Marcos Borges, president of Univesp. He believes that technology has the power to improve student learning. “I’m from Univesp, and Univesp is all about technology. I’m a researcher in computer science in education, and I believe in technology,” he said.

When presenting the possibilities to Brazilian administrators and educators, Samsung representatives emphasized that the devices are designed with options for both of the most widely used operating systems in schools today—Microsoft and Google. “The best solution for any school is the one that works best for it. We have devices for every scenario, capable of running whichever platform they choose,” said Denis Brentel, solutions manager at the South Korean company.

Investing in products for schools is part of the brand’s mission—a way to help prepare children for the future, says Cristiane Veroneze Paes, Samsung’s Technology Business Development Manager. And there is a lot of work to be done. “The use of interactive displays—which ‘is our strength in education’—in the United Kingdom, for example, 90% of schools have interactive displays. In Latin America, only 7%,” she added.

The Brazilian group’s schedule will run through Friday (the 26th), with more technical visits, in addition, of course, to their participation in Bett UK. The Brazilian delegation is supported by Edlatam Alliance and Systemic Bilingual and is partnering with the British Consulate General, Google for Education, and Samsung.
