The platform Google Classroom It’s already well known to everyone who works directly in education. But it has been constantly improved, and to showcase some of its key features, Google organized a special event for the Brazilian delegation in London on Monday (22). Among the topics covered were new tools and the application of artificial intelligence in the education sector.

Valdeci Araújo Junior, a representative from Qstione, was one of the Brazilians who attended the meeting. He says he particularly liked the pilot project being carried out with the government of Paraná to improve students’ reading skills through artificial intelligence. “Today, literacy is the main problem facing most school systems. The project, called Aira, administers reading fluency tests that are graded by AI. This makes it possible to scale the program,” he explains.

In addition to providing an assessment, the innovation can help each student improve by offering instant feedback on which words are the most difficult and in which passages the reading pace presented problems. “Students have this self-assessment and can continue to improve, moving up to the next level,” says Junior.

During the event, other new features were also introduced, such as a direct connection between Classroom and YouTube—allowing users to add notes to specific parts of videos—and shortcuts to conference rooms.

The meeting at Google was one of the activities on the Brazilian delegation’s itinerary, which also includes technical visits to leading educational institutions in the United Kingdom, as well as participation in the Bett Show, the world’s largest education and technology event.

The initiative is supported by the Edlatam Alliance and Systemic Bilingual, in partnership with the British Consulate General, Google for Education, and Samsung.
