With the goal of bringing Brazilian education closer to key global discussions on innovation, technology, and teaching practices, more than 300 educators, leaders, administrators, and entrepreneurs participated in the Bett UK Delegation in London from January 19 to 23. The initiative provided a strategic immersion in international experiences and best educational practices with the potential for direct application in the Brazilian educational context.

Throughout the week, participants followed a busy schedule in the English capital, with technical visits to leading schools and universities in the United Kingdom, such as King’s College London, the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), University College London, Worthgate School, Cubitt Town Primary School, and St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School; meetings with global companies in the education sector, such as Google, Samsung, Canva, and AWS; and participation in Bett UK, the world’s largest education and technology event.

Across all types of activities, one of the clearest lessons learned from experiences in the United Kingdom was that pedagogical intent must take precedence over concerns about any technological tool, including artificial intelligence applications.

During visits to elementary and secondary schools, the respectful relationships between students and teachers were one of the aspects that most caught the attention of the Brazilians. In each classroom, teachers had interactive screens at their disposal, and most of them use AI systems to help them prepare lessons and grade assignments.

But nothing is more important than the human qualities of respect for differences, a commitment to one’s own learning, and care for the school environment. To develop these qualities, educators’ example and one-on-one interaction are indispensable elements.

At institutions of higher education, we were able to discuss strategies, teaching methods, and technological applications that enable teachers to reach every student, as well as learn about some research on artificial intelligence applied to education, such as that conducted by Jon Cardoso-Silva, a Brazilian researcher at the London School of Economics (LSE).

When analyzing how students have been using AI systems, he realized that it is important to provide guidance on how to use the tools. “Students who leave all the thinking to the AI tend to lose control over what they are doing and make basic mistakes, while students who challenge the tool use it more effectively,” he said.

In addition to reflections, the sharing of experiences, and networking, the week also yielded practical results. During one of the visits to educational institutions, for example, Alexandre Ponzetto, a project manager at the Objetivo group, earned a certification and implemented the Canva tool across the entire network where he works. “It’s still in the testing phase, but we’re going to assess whether it’s a viable solution for our situation. It was very beneficial,” he said.

And, of course, walking through Bett UK—the world’s largest educational technology trade show by number of exhibitors, with more than 700 exhibitors at the 2026 edition—was an enriching experience. “We saw many educational assessment solutions and expanded our repertoire—and when it comes to repertoire, the more, the better. I was happy to see that the technology we develop is on par with what’s being done around the world, and that we were able to have meaningful discussions,” said Wagner Resende of Cead at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora.

Active participation

The extracurricular activities and participation in the fair complemented each other. “The field trips were very important because we had direct contact with the teaching practices and work here, so that later we could go to the exhibition hall and see the solutions and innovations that can help in our own practices,” said Lecy Soares of Colégio Santo Agostinho in Rio de Janeiro, a member of the Brazilian delegation. She was pleased to see the people shaping the country’s education system participating in the activities in the United Kingdom. “I found it interesting to see how many Brazilians are here, exploring and learning,” she said.

In fact, the attendees were highly qualified, according to Gabriel Kineippe, key account manager at Bett Brasil. “Throughout the program, it was clear that participants showed a high level of interest, both in the technical visits to schools and universities and in the meetings with major global players in technology and education. The audience was engaged, asked questions, shared real-world experiences from Brazilian school systems, and actively participated in the discussions, always with a practical focus on how to translate these insights into concrete actions in Brazil,” he said.

Kineippe points out that the public officials who were part of the delegation were also deeply involved, engaging in meaningful discussions on inclusion, innovation, the strategic use of technology, and partnerships. “Exclusive activities, such as closed-door meetings, workshops, and roundtable discussions, fostered an environment of trust and substantive exchange among leaders who face similar challenges in their respective regions,” he said.

There is still a lot of work ahead before Brazil can offer a quality education for all, but the feeling at the end of the week is one of mission accomplished. “We ended the week with the certainty that the delegation not only participated in Bett UK, but truly immersed itself in the experience, built meaningful connections, and took home profound insights that will certainly influence educational decisions, policies, and practices,” says Kineippe.
