The first task for the members of the Bett UK Delegation was to gain some firsthand insight into the British education system. On Monday morning (the 19th), the first day of activities, the delegation members were divided among five London schools: Lansbury Lawrence Primary School, St. Augustine’s Catholic Primary School, Cubitt Town Primary School, and St. Thomas More Language College.

During each visit, the Brazilians had the opportunity to tour the facilities and talk with administrators and teachers to learn how the schools actually operate. And, of course, there was a great deal of sharing of experiences and lessons learned. “It’s very interesting to see how much quieter the school is than in Brazil,” commented Fernanda King, director of the Petit Kids Cultural Center, regarding the difference noted by most of the delegation.

This type of activity has also proven to be beneficial for the educators who host the visits. “It’s a great pleasure. Unfortunately, we don’t travel to Brazil, but we take the opportunity to talk and learn a little more about other realities, and to learn from Brazilian educators,” said Owen O’Regan, principal of Lansbury Lawrence.

In the afternoon, part of the delegation visited Google’s headquarters in London and learned practical ways to use Gemini for everyday tasks. “Even though I don’t consider myself very tech-savvy, I’ll be able to use it to make my work easier,” said Renata Assunção, head of the Pedagogical Advisory Department at Be Currículo Bilíngue.

After so much learning, there was time to socialize at a welcome cocktail party for all members of the delegation. “Last year there were 230 of us; this time there are 300. And it’s a very diverse delegation, with representatives from the public and private sectors, as well as from K-12 and higher education, which allows for a lot of exchange,” noted Claudia Valério, general director of Bett Brasil.
