Sharing experiences developed within schools can help expand the repertoire of administrators and teachers in developing teaching practices. This was the goal of “Schools in Action, ” a first-of-its-kind initiative at the 2026 Bett Nordeste Conference, held in partnership with the Union of Educational Institutions in the State of Pernambuco (SINEPE-PE).

The goal was to create a space for private educational institutions in the northern and northeastern states of the country to present projects developed within their own contexts.

During the two-day series of presentations, educators shared their experiences related to the use of artificial intelligence, active learning methods, learning, school culture, innovation, and the involvement of teaching teams.

On the first day, the presentations included “Dia Lab – Artificial Intelligence Lab” from Colégio Motivo (PE), presented by Principal Caíke Andrade; “Eleanor’s Compass,” from Colégio Top (PB), developed by history teacher Carolyne do Monte; and the teaching method developed by Colégio e Curso Gauss (BA), presented by academic coordinator Rosane Galante.

For Andrade, principal of Colégio Motivo, participating in the initiative underscored the importance of collaboration among educational institutions: “In education, we need to come together to bring about the changes we want to see in our world.”

In the principal’s view, the opportunity to learn about the experiences of other institutions can also encourage the adoption of new practices. “Having this space where various schools are sharing their best practices allows us to reap the benefits of this moment in the future, bringing new ideas inspired by these experiences into our school,” he says.

Recognition of Teaching Practice

For Teacher Carolyne of Colégio Top, presenting the experience was both an opportunity to share a teaching method and a recognition of the work she has done in the classroom.

“It’s an honor to be able to share an active teaching approach that can inspire other schools. We teachers need recognition, because education has become more challenging in the face of so many distractions and the pressures that families and society place on us. A moment like this shows that our work is valued; it gives us a breather and a boost of motivation. It’s something that stays with us.”

The teacher also highlights the curation of the experiences presented as an element that contributes to the exchange among participants. “It’s a sign that these are practices that have worked, that have yielded results, and this gives us guidance on the paths we can take in practice—and also on what we should often avoid. By observing the results from other schools, we can make more informed choices for the future,” says Carolyne.

Experiences from different contexts

On the second day of “Schools in Action,” educators from institutions in Pernambuco presented experiences focused on different aspects of everyday school life.

Alena Nobre, the academic director at Colégio Saber Viver, shared a practice of conducting weekly digital quizzes to reinforce material covered in class, encourage self-directed learning, and develop students’ metacognition.

Sybele Barros Soares, the school director at Colégio CBV, presented the process of rebuilding the school culture following an institutional and disciplinary crisis. The initiative combined the pursuit of academic excellence with efforts to strengthen ethical conduct.

Finally, Paula Carneiro Leão, director of communications and innovation at Escola Vila Aprendiz, described the experience of a hackathon held with teachers and the educational staff. The goal was to collectively envision a school capable of meeting the needs of students today and in the future.

The experiences presented illustrate different approaches based on the specific needs of each institution. By creating a space for sharing, Escolas em Ação brought together practices developed in different schools and exposed teachers and administrators to strategies that can broaden their repertoire for addressing common challenges in everyday educational life.
