A public consultation is currently underway regarding the New High School Program, which introduces changes to the curriculum and offers elective courses in all schools nationwide. The model, which has been gradually implemented in schools since 2022, has been the subject of recent discussions among educational organizations, which have suggested everything from adjustments to the repeal of the reform. The call for suggestions is open until July 6.

In this context, in an interview with Conexão Bett, Professor Maria Helena Guimarães de Castro, former president of INEP (Anísio Teixeira National Institute for Educational Studies and Research) and current president of Abave (Brazilian Association for Educational Assessment), discusses the main points of the New High School Curriculum, including necessary adjustments, challenges, and impacts on national assessments, such as the Enem, for the coming years.
