The goal of innovation in school management has taken on new dimensions in recent years, which has increased the challenges faced by educational administrators and leaders. They must now solve an equation that includes, among other elements, the incorporation of new learning technologies and the development of social-emotional skills, without neglecting administrative and financial processes. 

In this context, the Bett Conference—a traveling edition of Latin America’s largest education and technology event, Bett Brasil—is being held with the aim of promoting the central theme “School Management and Innovation in Learning: How to Tackle the Challenges?” Now in its third edition, the conference will take place on October 5 and 6 at the Recife Event Center in Pernambuco.

“This event is an opportunity for administrators to share experiences with their peers and hear from leading experts in the education sector. The program consists of eight panel discussions that explore, for example, 21st-century skills in an innovative school, new learning technologies, educational marketing, maintaining a steady cash flow, and practices for motivating teaching staff,” notes Adriana Martinelli, Director of Content at Bett Brasil. According to her, the traveling model is ideal for including more educators in the discussion about the current state of Brazilian education and its future direction, while also upholding Bett Brasil’s commitment to providing relevant content 365 days a year.

Inspirational Talk and Official Opening Ceremony

On the first day of Bett Week, the official opening ceremony will be led by two experts on the educational landscape in Pernambuco: José Ricardo Dias Diniz, president of the Union of Educational Institutions in the State of Pernambuco (SINEP/PE), and Professor Luciano Meira, who serves as an adjunct professor of psychology at the Federal University of Pernambuco, is a visiting professor at CESAR School (Center for Advanced Studies and Systems in Recife), and is a founding partner of Joy Street, a company specializing in playful educational technologies.

Meira comments that the idea of the traveling Bett Conference is brilliant and jokes that this model reminds him of the circuses of old that brought entertainment to different parts of the country, tailoring the show to the local context.“Bett’s presence in Recife will be very interesting in further sparking reflection on the transformative education that we must definitively strengthen in the country, with public strategies aimed at achieving equity and equality broad enough to bring everyone along on the same journey of educational transformation,” says the professor.

He also says that choosing Recife to host the event was the right decision, because the state has a lot to contribute to the educational landscape. “In Recife, for example, we have the Porto Digital Technology Park, which is Brazil’s first walkable technology park located in the city’s historic center—an opportunity for serendipity, that is, to find partners among the more than 50 startups and companies and 12,000 people who work there,” Meira points out.

Also on the first day of Jornada Bett, attendees will have the opportunity to attend the inspiring lecture “The Manager’s Emotions and the Development of Innovative Leadership” with psychologist Alexandre Coimbra Amaral, who holds a master’s degree in clinical psychology. He is also the author of the book “Letters from a Therapist for Your Moments of Crisis,” which, according to the author’s website, has achieved best-seller status, selling more than 13,000 copies nationwide in less than six months.
