During this time of isolation, many initiatives have emerged to facilitate learning, several of which are free, making them even more accessible.

codeBuddy, a school specializing in programming and robotics, has launched short, open-enrollment courses for students ages 8 and up. One of them is free.

The “Start to Code” course introduces the basics of programming logic in a fun way. Using a web-based tool, participants create apps and can export them to their smartphones. The course consists of two 90-minute live classes. Since there is no age limit, even adults can sign up.

Classes are always held live, at the same time, with an instructor from one of the codeBuddy locations selected during registration. Even in regions that do not yet have a codeBuddy location, the courses are available, and you can choose any location. No software installation or license purchase is required, and all activities can be completed on computers with basic specifications.

To teach participants how to create a 2D game, the network specializing in programming and robotics is offering a four-class course at an affordable price. There is no age limit to participate, and the course is recommended for ages 9 and up. The activities will be divided into the following topics: basics of using an online platform to create games; how to add characters, animate them, and program their behaviors; how to create interactions between characters and objects and design elements such as obstacles, enemies, challenges, or collectible items; and how to include health bars or other information.

"hub20 online," the annual conference for educators organized by the Edify bilingual program, has moved online and shares free educational content in various formats (articles, e-books, and videos) every week. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, webinars and live streams featuring renowned experts are held. The schedule is posted on the @edifyeducation Instagram profile and in the event’s newsletter.
