On the first day of the Bett Show in London, Brazil made its presence felt with a presentation titled “Spotlight on Latin America: Dive into the Latest EdTech Opportunities and Innovations Emerging from Latin America’s Rich and Diverse Ecosystem.”

With Claudia Valério, executive director of Bett Brasil, serving as moderator, speakers Ricardo Schneider, Chief Scientific Officer and partner at Ecossistema SQUARE, and Alexandre Marino, professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, presented some of Brazil’s educational innovations.

Professor Marino demonstrated how his postdoctoral research on Augmented Reality (AR) at the Open University is being applied in the Santa Catarina state school system. He helped develop 200 AR objects, which are distributed and used free of charge in schools across the state.

Schneider explained that Square was founded three years ago to address the challenge of bringing large-scale innovation to public education. “Brazil is a large and diverse country . That’s why we’ve brought together several startups that can provide comprehensive solutions to different challenges,” he said. According to him, this approach gives schools the freedom to choose the services that best fit their specific needs, while always ensuring integration with a broader system.

The results are already starting to show. The group currently reaches 11,000 schools, 350,000 teachers, and 5 million students. And now, this suite of solutions is beginning to expand into Latin America. “We’re already operating in Mexico, and we’re entering Colombia and Argentina,” he said.

The Bett UK Delegation is supported by the British Consulate General, Britannica Education, SQUARE Ecosystem, Editora do Brasil, EF Education First, Google, Letrus, Samsung, Start by Alura, and Quizizz.
