In an interview with Conexão Bett, Eduardo Giraldez, chairman of the Realms IP.TV Group, discussed the impact of new technologies in the classroom, the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to support teachers’ daily tasks, and the solutions developed by the Realms IP.TV Group to enhance learning in schools.

For Giraldez, AI should be viewed as a support tool, comparable to the introduction of other technological innovations in the past. “Like any technology, it’s intimidating at first—just as it was with the first computer, the internet, and search engines. But at its core, Artificial Intelligence is just another tool and should be viewed as such,” he said.

He emphasizes AI's potential to alleviate the repetitive work of teachers, allowing them to focus on more meaningful activities.

"A McKinsey study indicates that 20% to 40% of teachers' time is spent on administrative tasks, such as lesson planning and grading exams, for example. In addition, the OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development) reports that, in Brazil, one-third of teachers have more than 300 students and work at more than one school. So, AI comes as a tool to help, not to replace. It takes away the drudgery, ‘de-robotizing’ human beings,” he explains.

Giraldez also emphasizes the importance of training educators in the use of these technologies. "Before acquiring any technology, it is essential to provide teachers with thorough training so they can decide when is the best time to use it," he says.

Regarding the platform developed by edtech company Realms IP.TV, which was launched at the 2024 edition of Bett Brasil, Giraldez described the solution as a tool designed specifically for teachers, with a focus on productivity and ease of use. “We created a tool where teachers don’t need to be prompt engineers. They can create summaries and lesson plans, presentations, video lessons, exercises, and even illustrated mini-handouts—all while having the ability to make final adjustments,” he says.

One of the platform’s unique features is the ability for teachers to create a “clone” of themselves to interact with students. “Teachers can answer students’ questions using their own artificial intelligence—with their own voice and image—while monitoring the questions asked and training their virtual avatar to continue interacting more effectively,” explains Giraldez.

In addition, the platform offers adaptive features for students. “Teachers can create assessments and, based on the results, identify micro-skills that need reinforcement. The AI generates new questions in an adaptive manner, whether for the class as a whole or for a specific student,” adds Giraldez.
