On August 27 and 28, Recife will host the Bett Conference, one of the largest education events in the Northeast. The conference will bring together educators, principals, administrators, entrepreneurs, experts, and secretaries of education from across the region. Organized by Bett Brasil, in partnership with Sinepe-PE, the event will be held at the Recife Expo Center. The program includes three concurrent sessions, featuring more than 60 national and international speakers, as well as a large exhibition area showcasing solutions, products, and innovations from more than 40 companies in the education sector.

New Ways of Learning to Build Regenerative Futures

In this edition, the central theme of the Bett Nordeste Conference is “A New Approach to Learning to Build Regenerative Futures.” This theme reflects Bett Brasil’s commitment to fostering discussions that address the current challenges in education, while also pointing to possible paths for reinventing learning with courage, innovation, and a commitment to life.

According to Adriana Martinelli, Director of Content at Bett Brasil, the concept of “new learning” seeks to broaden our perspective on what we teach, how we teach, and for what purpose.

“The renewal of the future necessarily begins with transforming the way we educate. The concept of ‘new learning’ underscores the urgency of rethinking what, how, and why we teach, taking into account today’s challenges and the role of education as a catalyst for meaning and transformation,” he explains.

Based on the theme, the program is organized around four major thematic areas—the 4 Cs of the Conference: Coexistence, Consciousness, Care, and Creation. Each of these invites the audience to reflect on different dimensions of education in times of rapid change and constant uncertainty.

The “Coexistence” pillar proposes viewing the school as a space for healthy, democratic, and inclusive relationships and a sense of belonging. The “Awareness” pillar, meanwhile, will address how to deal with information overload, the risks of misinformation, and the importance of critical thinking, digital ethics, and the mindful use of artificial intelligence.

The “Care” theme will feature reflections on caring for the planet and for people, exploring topics such as mental health, well-being, and sustainability. Finally, the “Creation” theme will address the importance of active learning methods, student authorship, and student leadership in the construction of knowledge.

Public Education in the Spotlight

One of the new features of this year’s Bett Conference is the auditorium dedicated exclusively to public education, with free admission to the public. The venue will host discussions on the sector’s main challenges, presentations of public management case studies, and innovative solutions for teaching in municipal and state school systems.

Among the highlights, the panel “Has Public Education Already Missed the Boat on Artificial Intelligence?” on August 28 will bring together leading figures such as Silvio Meira, chief scientist at TDS Company; Luciano Meira, professor at UFPE and head of Pedagogy at Proz; FGV professor Alexandre Schneider; and CESAR School educational consultant Tanci Simões.

Technology will also be the focus of the panel discussion “Technology for All: Infrastructure and Equity in Schools, ” on August 27. Participants include Delson Silva, Director of Technology and Innovation at the National Fund for Education Development (FNDE), and Leo Gmeiner, co-founder of School Guardian, who will discuss ways to ensure connectivity for educational purposes in all schools across the country.

The topic of inclusion will be highlighted during the panel discussion “Inclusion: The Commitment of Human Rights Education” on August 28. Inspiring talks featuring prominent speakers

Two highly anticipated highlights of the program are the inspirational talks that wrap up each day of the Bett Conference. On August 27, Spanish educator Xavier Aragay, president of Reimagine Education, will take the stage with the thought-provoking question: “Are we ready to lead the educational transformation that lies ahead?” Aragay will share strategies and experiences that are already shaping the future of education in various countries.

On August 28, it will be the turn of Raquel Cabral, an activist for inclusion who has over 890,000 followers on social media. Raquel, the mother of Marcello, who has Down syndrome, will deliver a talk titled “There’s Room for Everyone in the World, ” featuring a moving account of the importance of listening, empathy, and creating truly inclusive spaces in schools.

From Social-Emotional Learning to AI: Program Highlights

The program will feature key reflections on well-being and social interaction in schools. On August 27, the session“Mindful Coexistence: Building a School of Healthy Relationships” will bring together MindKids founder Daniela Degani and language teacher and supervisor of the Specialized Social Intervention Service (SEAS), Rossana Fonseca. The goal is to discuss strategies for promoting more empathetic, inclusive, and respectful educational environments.

On August 28, the panel discussion “Social-Emotional Well-Being Is Health: What Does School Have to Do With It?” will feature physician, educator, and writer Jairo Bouer, alongside psychologist and professor at the Pernambuco School of Health, Rafaella Cursino. Pedagogical transformations driven by technology and creativity will also be highlighted at the event. The talk “Implementing AI: What Matters for Schools, ” on August 28, will address practical applications and possible approaches to incorporating Artificial Intelligence into everyday school life. Sociologist and researcher Daniel Magnavita and educational consultant Fernando Trevisani will participate in the discussion.

On the same day, the panel “Creating Is Part of Learning: When Imagination Changes the Dynamics of School” invites the audience to reflect on the role of creativity and innovation in the teaching-and-learning process. The discussion will feature Cris Sanches, head of Innovation and Educational Technology at YDUQS, and Manu Bezerra, a teacher and learning experience designer.

In addition to the main “Plenária” auditorium, Bett Day will feature the “Aquário” auditorium, an innovative space designed to encourage direct interaction between experts and the audience. In this format, anyone in the audience can come up on stage and participate in the discussions, fostering a more dynamic and collaborative learning experience.
