The concept of digital transformation in the corporate world holds that technological resources are not merely meant to support processes, but to catalyze the transition to digitally-based structures for strategic purposes. When this digital transformation is applied to the educational environment, the scope of action is also expanded by breaking down physical barriers.

With the pandemic, digital transformation has gained momentum—whether through the advancement of the digital maturity of schools already open to technology or by marking the start of the digital journey for schools still deeply rooted in analog methods. And now is the time to encourage students, teachers, and administrators to feel like they are part of this digital educational transformation—something that can only happen in practice, by providing opportunities for new experiences and meanings that enhance teaching and learning and, in the process, humanize it.

Aware of the current situation facing all stakeholders in education, Bett Educar is hosting the Bett Educar Online Conference from May 11 to 14. Under the central theme “Digital and Human Transformation in Education,” Latin America’s largest event on education, technology, and innovation once again fulfills its role as a catalyst by fostering discussions on how digital transformation will impact education in the coming years—and, more importantly, how it may affect interactions in teaching and learning.

“Digital transformation had been gradually implemented in most schools and educational institutions, but with the pandemic, these changes have accelerated exponentially across the entire education sector—both from a technological and a human perspective,” notes Adriana Martinelli, director of content at Bett Educar.

The Bett Online Conference will be free and will bring together, over four days, various experts from the sector and related fields to address issues revolving around the central theme—Digital and Human Transformation in Education. The topics will be organized around four broad themes: innovation in education; hybrid learning and active methodologies; mental health and social-emotional skills; and change management and innovation. Online Workshops

In addition to the virtual discussions, the event will feature inspiring talks by prominent figures, such as psychiatrist and author Augusto Cury, neuroscientist Carla Tieppo, and journalist Alexandre Sayad, who serves as the representative for Latin America and the Caribbean for the UNESCO Think Tank.

In keeping with the new digital era, the event will also feature technical workshops, live-streaming stages for masterclasses, and online spaces for exhibitors.

"The format of this Bett Educar Online Conference was designed to ensure that participants gain as much knowledge as possible about the topics most relevant to the sector and, crucially, to provide practical experiences related to the event’s overarching themes," explained the Director of Content at Bett Educar.

Over the past few years, Bett Educar has focused on hands-on experimentation at its events, and is now applying that knowledge to virtual experiences through practical workshops. “While technology plays a fundamental role in supporting online learning, we are living in a time when empathy is essential. That is why the goal is to encourage educators, administrators, and teachers to put themselves in the students’ shoes, take a proactive approach, and participate directly in building networks and exchanging experiences—both through chats with the speakers and with other event participants,” adds Martinelli.

On the first day of the event, May 11, at 6:30 p.m., the director of Bett Educar, Claúdia Valério, will open the Bett Educar Online Conference, which will also bring together panelists and speakers in two consecutive sessions to discuss the future of education and present participants with a series of thought-provoking questions on innovation and digital transformation in education.

The following day (May 12), the online plenary discussion sessions will begin earlier, at 2:00 p.m. The day will be dedicated to topics of great current interest: hybrid learning and active teaching methods. To foster this discussion, renowned experts have been confirmed, including Lilian Bacich, director of Tríade Educacional; José Moran, professor at USP; and Paulo Tomazinho, consultant and researcher at Meta Aprendizagem. The session will be moderated by Maria Alice Carraturi, an educational technology consultant at the Center for Innovation in Brazilian Education (CIEB).

Mental health and social-emotional skills are the overarching theme that will guide the lectures and other activities on the third day of the event (May 13). Starting at 2:00 p.m., participants will be able to explore topics such as “Ethical Coexistence and Values Enhanced by Technology” and “Meditation and Well-Being in the Classroom.” The talks will be led by Leticia Lyle, co-founder of Camino Education; Rafael Ávila, from Grupo Ânima; and Cesar Augusto Amaral Nunes, Solutions Development Manager at Instituto Unibanco. The day’s inspirational talk will be presented by neuroscientist Carla Tieppo on the topic “The Education of the Future Beyond the Digital Revolution.”

The Bett Educar Conference will conclude on May 14 with presentations on change management and innovation that also address diversity. Janine Rodrigues, founder of Piraporiando, and Cassio França, from the League of Anti-Racist Schools, are leading figures in the sector who will be moderating discussions on topics such as “Innovation with Disruptive Technologies,” “How Technologies Can Promote Inclusion,” and “Toward an Anti-Racist and Anti-Prejudice Education.”
