Print Books vs. E-Books: Understanding the Different Ways to Use Teaching Materials in the Classroom
In an interview with Conexão Bett, educator Marizane Piergentile discusses recent debates on the topic and ways to improve student learning

Recent discussions about the use of digital or printed teaching materials in the classroom have stirred up the educational landscape. After all, what is the best approach? According to experts, the challenge of educating future generations requires the adoption of a hybrid strategy—one that integrates the advantages of both analog and digital formats.

“If we could suddenly bring this up in conversation with students—offering the best of both worlds—I have my physical book, where I write and maintain my fine motor skills, but I also have the digital version, which is part of my daily life,” says Marizane Piergentile, regional director of the Adventist Network of Greater ABC and the São Paulo Coast.

In an interview with Conexão Bett, the educator addresses the topic and suggests ways for print and digital media to coexist. “If teachers can bring these two worlds together—using digital technology to take students to places the physical world cannot reach, such as large libraries, classes in the metaverse, classes in experimental labs, 3D glasses… in short, a multitude of other possibilities. Because this current trend toward physical and digital materials is just another phase, and in education we’ve been experiencing continuous changes, since our audience is constantly changing,” adds Marizane.
