Providing high-quality, engaging, and large-scale technical education: this is a challenge for Brazil, as it is for many emerging countries. But it is a challenge that has been met with some positive responses, as Luciano Meira, a professor at the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) and a visiting professor at CESAR School (Center for Advanced Studies and Systems in Recife), has shown, and advisor to Bett Brasil, during a lecture on the first day of the Bett UK 2023, in London.

Speaking to an international audience, Meira gave a brief overview of how the Brazilian education system works and explained how full-time technical education can improve students’ lives and society as a whole. 

In addition, he spoke about a solution that aims to expand the availability of vocational education in Brazil through the use of technology. “Our platform engages students through missions and challenges, delivers content in a fun way, and tracks students’ progress,” he said.

After the lecture, the educator said he was happy to have the opportunity to share positive initiatives from Brazil. “It was amazing. I come from the academic world and have participated in many international conferences, but being here feels special. It was great to be here and talk with people who were interested in the topic, exchanging ideas on how to scale up education in a context as complex and diverse as Brazil’s,” he said.
