MEC Releases Textbook Evaluation Results
The final list of the pedagogical evaluation of textbooks and teaching materials under the National Book and Teaching Materials Program (PNLD) for the early years of elementary school (grades 1 through 5) for the 2027–2030 period is now available for review in the official notice (No. 145, 2026) published by the Ministry of Education (MEC).
According to the Ministry of Education (MEC), the materials are designed to support the professional development and teaching practices of teachers in public basic education—including those in the federal, state, municipal, and Federal District systems—who are participating in the program.
The PNLD Early Years 2027–2030 projects will have a four-year service cycle for teachers.
Official Opinions
In all, the list includes the titles of 92 works providing theoretical and methodological support for teachers—both those approved and those rejected—following a review by the Ministry of Education’s (MEC) Secretariat of Basic Education.
Official reports on the final results of each project can also be viewed on the PNLD Avaliação platform—Publishers Module. The publisher’s representative must log in using their Gov.br password.
Appeal by the publishers
Copyright holders who disagree with the results of the PNLD’s pedagogical evaluation may file an appeal within ten calendar days.
Publishers participating in this procurement process for educational materials intended for teachers must submit the protocol via MEC’s email address.
Next Steps
With the announcement of the final results, the process moves on to the next stages of acquiring and digitally uploading the files for all volumes of the works—in their latest versions—to the PNLD Digital Platform.
Once the next steps have been completed and the materials have been purchased by the National Fund for Education Development (FNDE), the selected works may be made available to teachers through the PNLD Digital.
All purchased works must bear the seals and other elements of the federal program provided by the FNDE.
Teacher Training
The new books will be added to the Teacher Library's collection and will provide access to recent publications on teacher education, as well as examples of teaching practices developed in different contexts.
Conference organized by the organization
Of the 76,262 public schools participating in this edition of the National Book and Teaching Materials Program (PNLD), 84.73% have completed the selection of textbooks and theoretical and methodological support materials.
The FNDE has a online tracking pagewhere the public can track the status of each public school and its respective state regarding the selection of educational materials.
