Microsoft Charts New Paths for Education at Bett Brasil 23
Microsoft, a global sponsor of Bett, made a strong showing at Bett Brasil 2023. The event, considered the largest gathering of education and technology professionals in Latin America, took place May 9–12 at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo.
At its booth, the company showcased several solutions for teachers and education administrators, featuring tools to support new ways of teaching, learning, and managing educational institutions in a constantly changing world.
Some of the highlights included learning technologies for developing social-emotional skills, as well as practical examples of how companies are using Microsoft tools to improve student performance both inside and outside the classroom.
During the event, visitors were able to explore various Microsoft solutions, such as Reading Progress, Web Search Coach, and Speaker Coach. For Vera Cabral, director of Skilling-Education at Microsoft Brazil, the changes brought about by the digitization of the world represent a unique opportunity for the education sector to reinvent itself.
“Educational institutions are reevaluating and updating their teaching, learning, and school management processes with the support of technology. Today’s students are not the same as they were a few years ago. Therefore, for education to be effective, the entire student journey must also change, becoming more dynamic and focused on developing the skills required for today’s world and the future,” said the executive.
To support the transformation currently underway in the education sector, Microsoft offers solutions that, by incorporating modern artificial intelligence capabilities, help make management processes more effective, transparent, and reliable.
In education, the available solutions—which also make extensive use of AI—enable institutions to design personalized learning paths for each class and each student, generating insights about individual students or groups of students that allow teachers to assess learning and develop strategies tailored to different student profiles.
Microsoft's portfolio of technologies at Bett Brasil emphasizes accessibility, equity, and inclusion
All solutions developed by Microsoft are designed to meet accessibility and inclusion requirements from the outset. The Immersive Reading feature, for example, includes a set of tools aimed at including everyone in the learning process.
“When technology is an integral part of the learning process, we develop students who are far more collaborative, innovative, and prepared for our world and the professions of the future. We are excited to share the technologies that open up new paths for education,” explained Vera Cabral.
Other tools unveiled by Microsoft at the trade show include:
Open Education Analytics, a community managed by Microsoft, aims to share solutions in the education sector to promote better learning outcomes through data intelligence and AI-driven analytics.
Microsoft 365 for Education is designed to help students reach their full potential both inside and outside the classroom. It is part of a portfolio of solutions that brings together essential tools for collaboration among students, teachers, and school administrators.
The Reading Coach, which is now part of Reading Progress in Teams. It gives teachers more tools to help students advance in literacy and receive a quality education, including resources that support students with learning difficulties.
In the context of management, in addition to the full suite of business applications, low-code or no-code platforms, and automation tools, it is worth exploring a solution that encompasses the entire student-institution relationship—including academic, financial, and service-related activities, among others—to provide a unified management experience.
An augmented reality solution from Teams that enables the creation of new collaboration scenarios across physical and virtual environments. The solution will be demonstrated to the audience, illustrating how it can be used to enhance teaching, foster familiarity with technology from the earliest stages of education, and promote innovation.
In the area of student well-being and mental health, the standout is Microsoft Reflect, an app that encourages students to express their emotions in Teams and helps teachers and administrators monitor each student’s behavior and socio-emotional state.
Minecraft Education Edition will also be featured in an interactive experience at the Microsoft booth. The game, which fosters a more dynamic and digital learning process, incorporates elements of logical reasoning, computational thinking, and collaboration. It is also familiar to thousands of children and young people, which makes it easier for them to connect with the tool and encourages students to engage in learning in a more interactive way.
