If theLED Movement—Light in Education—was created to celebrate innovative practices in this field, there’s nothing better than participating in two major events that also shed light on the topic:Rio2C, Latin America’s largest gathering for creativity and innovation, andBett Brasil, Latin America’s largest education and technology event.

Bringing leading figures in the field to these events—thereby enriching the discussions about the future—is part of a series of initiatives by Globo to celebrate Education Day, observed this Thursday, April 28.

In Rio de Janeiro, Rio2C will take place from April 26 to May 1 at Cidade das Artes. The LED Movement panel will be held on Friday, the 29th, with the theme “Reimagining the Future of Education: Perspectives for the 21st Century” (see below).

In São Paulo, Bett Brasil will take place May 10–13 at the Transamerica Expo Center. The LED Movement will be there on the 12th to host the panel discussion “Learning Toolkit: Technologies for the Future of Education.”

Summary: “The illiterates of the future will not be those who cannot read or write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn,” predicted sociologist and futurist Alvin Toffler in 1970. Fifty years later, during the week we celebrate International Education Day, we invite you to relearn how to learn with a team of guest experts in the art of sharing knowledge. This panel is presented by the LED Movement—Light in Education, an initiative of Globo and the Roberto Marinho Foundation. And it’s an invitation to everyone interested in getting a glimpse of the future of learning.

CEO of the São Paulo City Council’s School of Parliament and holder of a Ph.D. in Education from USP, he coordinates the Graduate Program. He is conducting postdoctoral research with the Graduate Program in Education: Educational Psychology at PUCSP and with the Graduate Program in Public Administration and Government at FGV/SP.

BIA SANTOS
Passionate about social enterprise management, she is the CEO of Barkus Educacional, an edtech company focused on inclusion and financial education. Recognized by Forbes on its “Under 30” list in the Science and Education category, she has won awards such as XP Inc.’s “Women Who Transform” and the Pitch Battle at Menos30Fest, Globo’s innovation and entrepreneurship festival, in 2020. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the University of Porto, and a master’s degree in African and Afro-Brazilian History and Culture from the Pretos Novos Institute. She is passionate about different cultures and an avid traveler, with international experience spanning 20 countries.

VALÉRIA ALMEIDA (moderator)
A TV host, journalist, and audiovisual producer, she holds a postgraduate degree in Audiovisual Production and Business Management from FAAP and is currently pursuing a postgraduate degree in Human Rights, Social Responsibility, and Global Citizenship at PUCRS. For the past ten years, she has worked at Rede Globo as a reporter and host, and for the past five years, she has been a partner at the production company Kanimambo Filmes.

EDGARD GOUVEIA
An architect and urban planner with a postgraduate degree in Cooperative Games, he has dedicated his career to engaging children, youth, and adults by designing and implementing virtual games, scavenger hunts, and collective actions that lead to small-scale community revolutions. He is the founder and president of Epic Journey, which works with organizations, and co-founder of LiveLab, which focuses specifically on youth leadership. He is a professor in the Graduate Program in Cooperative Games, the Youth Initiative Program, and MSLS in Sweden; Knowmads in the Netherlands; and Educação Gaia in Brazil. He is also a co-founder or partner in other organizations and programs such as Projeto Cooperação, Instituto Elos, Programa Guerreiros sem Armas, and Jogo Oasis.

CAMILA ACHUTTI
Founder and CEO of Mastertech, a school focused on digital, agile, logical, and human-centered thinking. She has worked with major companies such as Google, Intel, Accenture, Itaú, Citibank, Leroy Merlin, Renault, TIM, and IBM. Camila is also an expert in agile methods, emerging technologies, and educational strategies, having presented at lectures, seminars, demo days, and hackathons held at Brazil’s largest companies. She was a professor at Insper and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Computer Science from the University of São Paulo (USP); she is currently a Ph.D. candidate at USP’s Polytechnic School. She was selected by FORBES as one of the five Brazilian tech talents under 30 and as one of the 100 leaders of tomorrow.
