“The path to creative learning is listening,” says Renata Salomone in an interview with Conexão Bett
Active teaching methodologies, aligned with the guidelines of the National Common Core Curriculum (BNCC), are teaching strategies designed to place students at the center of the learning process. They encompass a range of contemporary methods aimed at stimulating students and giving them greater autonomy. But how can they be applied in the classroom? What are their advantages, and what skills are required of teachers?
To explore this topic, Conexão Bett speaks with Renata Salomone, who holds a master’s degree in Social Sciences from the State University of Rio de Janeiro (UERJ), with specializations in education and leadership training in innovation from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), and is the founder of MAPA Metodologias Ativas and Devires: Designing Futures in Education.
A winner of the Perestroika Award for Brazil’s most creative teachers in the basic education category, the educator discusses her experiences in adopting active learning approaches, the importance of these strategies in continuing teacher education, and the benefits of empowering students to take the lead in their own learning.
“The key to creative learning is listening. It’s about understanding what students want and recognizing that they are part of the process of shaping that learning journey. It’s about shifting the focus from teaching to learning. I have no doubt that when we shift this focus, we create a flexible classroom—one that truly extends the learning experience beyond the school’s walls,” says Renata.
The expert also discusses her expectations for the Bett Brasil Conference, where she will be one of the speakers on the topic “How to incorporate creative learning into everyday learning?” Check out the event schedule and register here.
