During her appearance on Conexão Bett, Cristina Diaz, CEO of UpMat Educacional, presented the latest updates on the 2025 edition of the country’s largest financial education competition: the OLITEF (Tesouro Direto Financial Literacy Olympiad).

The competition promotes financial education from an early age, targeting students from 6th grade through 12th grade in both public and private schools. This free national initiative is carried out in partnership with the National Treasury and B3, with support from the Ministry of Education (MEC), and is organized by UpMat Educacional.

“This year, OLITEF has even greater ambitions. We want to reach all Brazilian states again and bring in as many public schools as possible,” said Cristina. With 8,000 schools already registered, the goal is to reach five million students by the registration deadline, which is September 1. Click here to register your school with OLITEF.

OLITEF offers a comprehensive preparation program for schools and teachers, featuring educational materials, practice tests, and training. “In 2024, we trained more than 20,000 teachers in financial education with certificates recognized by the MEC. Students have access to a platform with practice tests, digital workbooks, and study tips. Our goal is to truly prepare students throughout their entire school journey—from the start of the school year right up to test day and beyond,” explained the CEO of UpMat Educacional.

According to Cristina, OLITEF’s impact extends beyond the classroom. “The coolest thing to see is that when financial education enters the school through OLITEF, it isn’t restricted to the classroom—it makes its way into students’ homes. Conversations about money, family budgets, and investments begin to become part of families’ daily lives as well. Gradually, this creates a virtuous cycle: it starts with the student, involves the teacher, mobilizes the school, and reaches the family. It’s a transformative movement because it places a topic that’s still considered taboo at the center of the conversation.”

This year’s edition features some significant new developments: 54 schools—two per state—will be selected by lottery to receive a prize of up to R$100,000 each. The schools will be able to choose between computer labs, robotics labs, or science labs, as well as air-conditioning units. Principals and up to four teachers from these selected schools will also be awarded R$8,000 each in Tesouro Direto bonds. In addition, up to 10,000 students will receive R$ 400, also in the form of government bonds.

Cristina reiterated the invitation: “I’d like to invite all public and private schools in Brazil to register for Brazil’s largest Financial Literacy Olympics, OLITEF. It’s an exciting journey!” Registration is free on the official OLITEF website. The competition will take place on September 9, and the results will be announced on October 30.
