Those eligible for the program must register their information by March 30

Students who have been admitted to in-person teacher education programs through the Ministry of Education (MEC) admissions processes and are eligible forthe Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas programmust register their information to apply for the program between February 17 and March 30. This phase applies to students accepted through the Unified Selection System (Sisu), the University for All Program (Prouni), and the Student Financing Fund (Fies), as well as to those who scored above 650 on the 2024 National High School Exam (Enem).

According toNotice No. 1/2025, applicants must submit their resumes throughthe Freire Platformof the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes). Expressing interest does not guarantee the award of a scholarship. Confirmation will take place after the final results are published, which is expected to occur on April 14. Scholarship payments will begin on May 1.

Scholarship – The “Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas” program is one of the pillars ofthe “Mais Professores para o Brasil” initiative. The scholarship was created to encourage the training of new teachers and improve the quality of these programs. The program will pay a monthly stipend of R$1,050 from the beginning to the end of the program to students who are admitted to in-person teacher education programs, apply for the scholarship, and are approved.

Of that total, the student may withdraw R$ 700. The remaining R$ 350 will be deposited into a savings account and may be withdrawn after the newly graduated teacher joins the public school system within five years of completing the program.

The scholarships will be paid by the MEC, through Capes, and the benefit will apply to new enrollments in teacher education programs. For 2025, the MEC has made up to 12,000 scholarships available. To be eligible for the Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas program, applicants must also meet the requirements outlined in Capes Public Notice No. 1/2025, in addition to the rules of Sisu, ProUni, or Fies.

More Teachers –Established byDecree No. 12,358/2025, the “More Teachers for Brazil” program was created in recognition of the central role that teachers play in students’ learning and in the success of educational policies.

The initiative aims to strengthen teacher training, encourage teachers to enter the public school system, and recognize the value of teaching professionals by providing them with resources and opportunities for ongoing professional development.

In addition to the “Pé-de-Meia Licenciaturas” program, the initiative includes the following measures: the “Bolsa Mais Professores” grant, the National Teacher Exam, the Training Portal, and professional development initiatives in partnership with public banks and other ministries. The program aims to serve 2.3 million teachers nationwide.
