Since last week, with the suspension of in-person activities at educational institutions across the country, learning management platforms have begun to release tools to support distance learning. In light of the decision made by governments and the private sector as part of the emergency protocols put in place due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the use of technological tools has enabled students to continue learning even from home. Many of these platforms, which will also be showcased at Bett Educar 2020, follow international trends and are models that are perfectly suited to the current scenario of social isolation.

Check out some of the initiatives.

SAE Digital has made more than 1,000 video lessons available to students throughout Brazil—from both private and public schools—on its YouTube channel. The educational system will provide, on average, five lessons per day for each grade level—from the 1st grade of elementary school through the 3rd year of high school. For Early Childhood Education, there will be video lessons with guidance and tips for activities to do at home with children, as well as a weekly activity guide, published on the website.

In addition, SAE Digital will also maintain an active, personalized support channel for principals, coordinators, and teachers, providing all the necessary support so that this time of crisis for schools and society as a whole can be overcome as soon as possible.

With the goal of encouraging continued learning and minimizing the impact on education, the Positivo Education System is offering free online classes to all students in Early Childhood Education, Elementary School (Grades 1–6), and High School. The classes can be accessed on the Positivo Education System’s YouTube channel and will be open to the public.

To ensure that hands-on learning continues, teachers from the Positivo Education System—who are working from home—are also recording solutions to the exercises related to the topics covered in the video lessons. New lessons continue to be made available each week, based on the needs and circumstances of schools across the country.

Rede AZ, a brand of Conexia Educação, has provided free access to the “AZ Super App,” where students can watch more than 40,000 video lessons and pre-recorded video answers for supplemental study, as well as online activities and assessments with immediate feedback and solution videos, an online essay-correction tool, as well as a set of learning goals focused on organizing students’ study routines, with the help of Artificial Intelligence.

“We have more than 150,000 students in our school network, and we know just how critical and challenging this time is for the sector. The main concern for school operators was how to continue providing educational services, even with classes suspended. We would like to assist institutions throughout Brazil by providing access to our app, as well as to our entire library of video lessons, exercises, and online management tools,” said Sandro Bonás, CEO of Conexia Educação.

And, recognizing the need to maintain regular activities during this period of school closures and the risk of infection, Matific Brasil has made its math game platform available free of charge for 60 days to all Brazilian students and teachers, from preschool through sixth grade. Matific’s math game platform, currently used by 600,000 students from 3,500 public and private schools across the country, is a great option for playful learning for children during the quarantine period.
