An award that recognizes transformative education projects is now accepting applications
Now in its second edition, the Transformative Educator Award is accepting submissions from teachers in early childhood education, elementary school, high school, vocational education, higher education, and youth and adult education

Registration for the Transformative Educator Award, organized by Sebrae, Bett Brasil, and the Significare Institute, are open as of this Monday (the 16th). Now in its second edition, the award aims to identify, recognize, and promote transformative educational projects implemented by teachers across Brazil, with a focus on entrepreneurial education. In its first edition, the Transformative Educator Award received 2,897 project submissions from all regions of the country. This time, the competition will include state, regional, and national rounds (held online). The registration period remains open until February 5.

The winners of the final round are scheduled to be announced in late April 2024, during the 29th edition of Bett Brasil. Projects submitted by teachers—carried out between 2021 and 2023 and affiliated with educational institutions—will be accepted. Educational projects may take various forms, such as activities, studies, games, methodologies, courses, technologies, challenges, presentations, competitions, services, or products.

Verônica Teixeira, an Entrepreneurial Education Analyst at Sebrae, points out that the award fosters alignment among the key players in the education ecosystem, in addition to strengthening entrepreneurship as a life path, as outlined in the National Common Core Curriculum (BNCC). “With this award, Brazil is setting an important milestone for entrepreneurial education aligned with the key players in the education ecosystem, while also strengthening ties with educators and educational organizations across the country,” she says.

Edleide Alves, manager of entrepreneurial education at Sebrae Nacional, adds: “Transformative education is about carefully building achievable dreams through the development of an educational program that promotes—through classroom practice—the mobilization of knowledge, skills, and behaviors, generating small achievements that transform the reality of that school, the community, the country, and, why not say it, the world. It is a recognition of these indispensable actors in ensuring the quality of the school, this cradle of the future.”

Professor Wellington Cruz, president of the Significare Institute, states that the Transformative Educator Award is a well-deserved tribute to educators for their struggles and triumphs in education. “We celebrate not only the achievements of an educational project, but above all the courage of our teachers who, in the face of challenges, are shaping a better tomorrow for all of us,” he said. “Every project submitted to the Transformative Educator Award is a testament to a teacher’s tireless passion for quality education, which makes it possible to fulfill dreams and transform realities,” he added.

“We encourage dialogue and emphasize how essential and important the role of educators is in the classroom and in students’ lives. For us, the Transformative Educator Award also means putting this commitment to engaging in dialogue with everyone into practice, especially at a time marked by educational and social transformations,” said Adriana Martinelli, Director of Content at Bett Brasil.
