Produção apresentada pelo jornalista e educador Alexandre Sayad traz 30 entrevistas realizadas em cinco continentes com o objetivo de ampliar o debate sobre os impactos da desinformação na sociedade e na educação

Disinformation is one of the main challenges facing contemporary democracies and has sparked debates across various fields, from politics to journalism and education. To further this discussion, journalist and educator Alexandre Sayad, a member of the Bett Brasil Advisory Board, launched the documentary series“The Disinformation Diaries, available for free on YouTube.

Produced by DCN Global, the series features 30 interviews conducted over the course of two years across five continents. The episodes present conversations with researchers, journalists, politicians, students, and experts from different countries, offering multiple perspectives on the phenomenon of disinformation and possible ways to strengthen media literacy.

The project aims to go beyond traditional approaches to the topic. Instead of quick debates or superficial analyses, the episodes adopt an open, conversational format, allowing guests to share experiences, research, and insights gained throughout their professional careers.

The first episode takes viewers to Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, where Sayad speaks with Dr. Gernot Wolfram, a professor of Arts and Media Management at Macromedia University. The interview explores a topic rarely addressed in debates about disinformation: how does pop culture address or reinforce false narratives?

Among the upcoming interviewees are professionals affiliated with the Pentagon and a former minister of communications from East Timor, broadening the perspective on the impacts of disinformation in different geopolitical, social, and educational contexts.

The topic was also featured in the program for the 31st edition of Bett Brasil, held in São Paulo. Sayad participated in the event as a speaker, addressing the challenges posed by misinformation and the importance of media literacy in educating citizens to critically analyze the information circulating in digital environments.

The first episode of “The Disinformation Diaries” is now available on YouTube, and new episodes will be released weekly.
