The winners of the Transformative Teacher Award will be announced on July 14 and 15
The awards ceremony for the first edition of the Transformative Teacher Award, co-sponsored by Base2Edu, Bett Educar, and partners, will be held on July 14 and 15. The online event will be open to the public, but advance registration is required via the link: https://bit.ly/premiotransformador. Awards will be presented to the top three winners in the categories of Early Childhood Education, Elementary School (Grades 1–4), Middle School (Grades 5–8), and High School.

The awards ceremony will be opened by Alice Carraturi, director of content at Bett Educar; Wellington Cruz, partner and co-founder of BASE2EDU; and Débora Garofalo, a finalist for the 2019 Global Teacher Prize. The winners will be announced, and the awards will be presented virtually by Garofalo, Professor Lília Melo, a finalist for the 2020 Global Teacher Prize, and Professor Jayse Ferreira, winner of the Professores do Brasil Award and also a finalist for the 2019 Global Teacher Prize.
The online event will showcase Brazil’s most transformative projects, selected by the Award, and will bring together education experts who will discuss solutions and tools for overcoming critical moments, such as the current one.
On the first day, the program will open with a presentation by Reinaldo Nascimento—a social therapist, educational psychologist, and co-founder of the Association for Emergency Pedagogy in Brazil—on the topic: “How Can Education Transform Crises into Opportunities?” Next, the finalist teachers in the Early Childhood Education and Elementary School I categories will present their projects.
The first day of the event will conclude with a talk by Daniela Degani, a mindfulness expert and founder of Mindkids, who will speak on “Mindfulness in the Classroom: Reducing Stress for Students and Teachers.”
On the second day, the online event begins with a talk by actor Wellington Nogueira, founder of the NGO Doutores da Alegria in Brazil, on “Joy + Classroom = A Powerful Encounter.”
Continuing the program, the finalists in the Upper Elementary and High School categories will present their projects. To conclude the series of lectures and project presentations, Lia Glaz, head of the Center for Teacher Studies and Research and the teacher policy division at Instituto Península, will present the results of the study “Feelings and Perceptions of Brazilian Teachers During the Different Stages of the Novel Coronavirus in Brazil.”
Final Awards Ceremony
The first-place winners in each category of the 1st Transformative Teacher Award will receive a cash prize and an international trip to attend Bett Educar 2021 in London, England. The second- and third-place winners will also receive cash prizes.
In addition to Base2Edu and Bett Educar, the following organizations are partners in organizing the 1st Transformative Teacher Award: Instituto Significare, the State Government of São Paulo, *Revista Educação*, *Revista Direcional Escolas*, Canvas, Instituto Rodrigo Mendes, and Fique Bem.
