Web series on student engagement is made available by an educational content production company

With classes suspended, student engagement with remote learning has been one of the challenges facing the education sector. With this in mind, the exhibitor at Bett Educar—Desenrolado, a producer of digital educational content—has posted a series of videos on its Instagram account addressing this topic.

The web series “Student Engagement in Distance Learning: How to Keep Students Engaged in Remote Learning?” covers three main topics: how students study in 2020; the variety of formats as a means of improving learning; and, finally, tips for teachers.

The videos feature interviews conducted by the production company’s CEO, Igor Pelúcio, who speaks with Ana Praciano (Innovation Coordinator), Bruno Costa (Content Coordinator), and Patrícia Viana (teacher and instructional coordinator). Focusing on the theme of engagement, the series aims to help K-12 educators develop solutions that also focus on maintaining student interest, especially during periods of remote learning.

One of the central themes of the conversations is the question, “Are video lessons enough for distance learning?” In response to this question, the interviewees discuss the importance of a variety of formats, clear guidelines for teachers and students, and digital content. “Video lessons are only one part of teaching—specifically, the presentation of content—but other points of contact are needed to attract and engage students,” says Bruno.

With six years in the market, Desenrolado produces digital learning materials for K-12 education companies—such as educational systems, publishers, and edtech firms—that want to offer digital content to their students. With expertise in audiovisual content, the production company believes that video is one of the most accessible digital tools, particularly because of the variety of formats available and the growing use of the Internet today.

In addition to the web series, the production company has also made its own video lessons available on a YouTube channel. The goal is to help teachers who want to curate videos to recommend to their students. With an average retention rate of 73% for video lessons, Desenrolado aims to spark and increase students’ interest in learning through engaging digital content.
