Duval is the Managing Director at Start by Alura (Alun Group) and serves as a Strategic Advisor to the Harvard Alumni Association in Latin America (HAA). With a master’s degree in Public Policy from Harvard and a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from American University, he has dedicated the past decade to bridging the public and private sectors to generate large-scale impact, with a focus on the use of technology in public education.

​Having worked at the World Bank, the IMF, and the Belo Horizonte City Government, he brings a multisectoral background that includes giants such as Anglo American, Pearson, EF Education First, and Somos Educação. The first in his family to earn a college degree—having financed his own studies through various part-time jobs in the United States—Duval combines academic rigor with practical experience in complex projects. He is driven by the conviction that education and effective policies are the greatest drivers of social mobility.
