Throughout his 54-year career, Pedro Pullen Parente has been recognized as one of the most prominent executives in Brazil’s public and private sectors.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vast Infraestrutura, a Brazilian infrastructure and logistics solutions company. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Directors of the Syngenta Group and M. Dias Branco. He also serves, on a volunteer basis, as Chairman of the Board of the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP) and is a Fellow in the Latin American Studies program at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
In the public sector, Pedro Parente held various positions between 1971 and 2002, including Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, Minister of Planning, Minister of Mines and Energy, and Chief of Staff to the President of the Republic during the administration of Fernando Henrique Cardoso.
In the private sector, he served as Executive Vice President of Grupo RBS, a Brazilian media conglomerate, from 2003 to 2009; President and CEO of Bunge Brasil from 2010 to 2014; Chairman of the Board of Directors of B3 (Brazilian Stock Exchange) from 2013 to 2018; Chairman of Petrobras from 2016 to 2018; Chairman and CEO of BRF, one of the world’s largest food companies, from 2018 to 2019, and Chairman of BRF’s Board of Directors from 2018 to 2022; Chairman of General Atlantic in Brazil, an international private equity firm, from 2019 to 2020; Board Member of Continental Grain Company from 2019 to 2023; Board Member of Prumo Logística from 2019 to 2020; and Member of the Nominating Committee of Vale S.A. from 2020 to 2021.
Pedro Parente played a decisive role in key moments of Brazil’s recent history. In 2001, he successfully led the committee responsible for managing the electricity crisis. He also served as a consultant to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the 1988 National Constituent Assembly, and other public institutions.
He is widely recognized for his leadership in institutional restructuring and transformation processes, characterized by strategic vision, integrity, and the ability to deliver results in complex environments.
