Roni Miranda

Secretary of State for Education of Paraná

Roni Miranda Vieira was born in Foz do Iguaçu (PR) in 1982 and has built his career in public education, progressing from the classroom to a leadership role in Paraná’s education policy. A former student in the state school system, he holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in geography and the history of Paraná.

He began his teaching career in 2005 and, after passing a civil service exam, began working at Djalma Marinho State High School in Campo Largo. In 2011, he was elected principal of the school, solidifying his reputation as an educational leader committed to improving learning and fostering innovation in public education.

Throughout his career at the Paraná State Department of Education, he held key positions in educational administration, leading programs and policies aimed at strengthening learning, teacher training, and the modernization of the state school system.

As Secretary of State for Education, he has led initiatives that have placed Paraná in a position of national prominence. Among the achievements are the state’s top ranking in the High School Ideb score among Brazilian state school systems and historic progress in literacy, with 80% of children literate by the appropriate age as early as 2025—a national goal set for 2030. This result is the product of extensive coordination between the state and municipalities, achieved through policies of cooperation and technical support for municipal school systems.

Under his leadership, Paraná has also become a national leader in integrating technology and artificial intelligence into public education, expanding the use of adaptive platforms, digital resources, and tools for personalizing learning.

Roni Miranda currently serves as Secretary of State for Education in Paraná and Vice President of the National Council of Secretaries of Education (Consed), actively participating in national debates on the quality of education, digital transformation, equity, and preparing future generations to meet the challenges of the 21st century
