The Power of Human Intelligence in Education
May 6, 2026
Plenary Session
Basic Education
We live surrounded by information, technology, speed, and—now—the ever-increasing advancements in artificial intelligence. In this landscape of transformation, the challenge of our time is not merely to learn more or produce more, but to understand what remains essentially human. Amid automation and excess, there is a growing need to develop the ability to live, coexist, interpret, and make decisions with awareness.
In this conversation, Leo Chaves and Leandro Karnal reflect on human intelligence and the capabilities that guide our choices: self-awareness, critical thinking, empathy, responsibility, and collaboration. In a world that values performance, technical skill, and quick responses, it becomes even more important to cultivate what technology cannot replace: presence, sensitivity, discernment, and meaning.
Educating, leading, and living together require more than just knowledge. They require listening, self-awareness, and understanding others. By recognizing the value of human intelligence in the age of artificial intelligence, we transform the challenges of the present into an opportunity to build more meaningful relationships, a more meaningful education, and a more meaningful future
