Imagine, Create, and Take Action for the Planet with LEGO® Build the Change

May 5, 2026
Practices and Solutions Section

How can creative learning foster student leadership and climate action in schools? In this hands-on session, educational leaders will experience how “learning through play,” combined with an inquiry-based approach, can drive meaningful environmental education experiences in the classroom. Guided by the LEGO® Build the Change program, from the global organization Take Action Global, participants will build prototypes using LEGO® bricks and other creative materials, exploring playful and creative approaches as catalysts for critical thinking and real-world problem-solving—encouraging students to imagine alternative futures and design solutions for the planet.

Participants will also be introduced to the LEGO® Build the Change initiative’s online community, where educators connect to tackle monthly playful challenges, share solutions developed in the classroom, and exchange resources and experiences with colleagues from around the world. By the end of the session, participants will leave with practical tools and a framework ready to be applied and adapted to their school settings, as well as access to an international community where educators and students collaborate to create solutions for the planet through creative learning.

This session demonstrates how schools can foster imagination, agency, and action, helping students move from understanding the world as it is to the ability to imagine—and build—the world as it could be.
