Bett Brasil Exceeds Expectations and Welcomes More Than 29,000 Visitors
São Paulo, May 13, 2022.
Bett Brasil, Latin America’s largest education and technology event, concluded this Friday (the 13th) with an edition that marked the event’s return to an in-person format at the Transamérica Expo pavilion in São Paulo. The four-day fair exceeded attendance expectations with approximately 29,000 in-person and online visitors and hosted more than 270 exhibiting brands that showcased technological and educational innovations for private and public school systems.
"We are very pleased with the results of this year’s Bett Brasil, especially with the number of visitors in the exhibition hall and the fact that the auditoriums for the Congress and the Managers’ Forum were completely full. This reflects the growing momentum in the education market and the anticipation surrounding the return to in-person events. We received many reports from partners and exhibitors about how productive the fair was for building relationships and closing new deals. We also had new companies that have already reached out to us expressing interest in participating in the 2023 edition,” celebrated Bett Brasil’s general director, Claudia Valério.
Leading figures from the education and technology sectors were featured in the content program for the Bett Brasil Congress and the Administrators’ Forum, including writer and psychiatrist Augusto Cury; Cláudia Costin, director of the FGV Center for Educational Policy; journalist Míriam Leitão; Débora Garofalo, coordinator of the Innovation Center at the São Paulo State Department of Education; José Moran, an educator and researcher of innovative educational projects; Viviane Mosé, a poet and psychoanalyst; Alexandre Schneider, president of the Singularidades Institute; Ana Maria Diniz, advisor to the Península Institute; Cesar Callegari, president of the Brazilian Institute of Applied Sociology; the Secretary of Education for the State of São Paulo, Rossieli Soares; the Secretary of Education for the State of Amazonas, Maria Josepha Penella Pêgas Chaves; Monica Arés, Head of Immersive Learning at META; and other professionals.
Adriana Martinelli, Bett Brasil’s content director, highlighted that one of the key indicators of success for this edition is its theme, “Co-creating the Education of the Future.” According to her, the most meaningful aspect was seeing people fully engage with the experience offered by the event, which provided opportunities for interaction, conversation, and relationship-building. She also noted that, after these two years of social isolation caused by the pandemic, people seem to be more aware of the importance of listening, which is fundamental to the learning process.
“The themes of the Congress and the Administrators’ Forum were very well received by the audience, and we saw a lot of engagement during the presentations—with questions, comments, and thought-provoking remarks—which shows that the content met expectations in terms of fostering dialogue and offering insights to rethink the future of education. The debates that took place during these days at Bett Brasil clearly point the way toward what will happen in schools in the short and medium term,” Adriana emphasized.
Attending the official opening of Bett Brasil, Education Minister Victor Godoy noted that learning recovery should be the focus of our efforts at this time and that technology is a powerful ally of education in helping us achieve this goal. “At Bett, we had the opportunity to showcase our key products, projects, and services currently underway at the Ministry of Education (MEC) to strengthen Brazilian education. In this regard, the ministry is open to collaborating closely with states, municipalities, and the entire national and international education network.”
Bett Online
Bett Online was an integral part of the Bett Brasil program and was sponsored by leading companies such as Ânima Educação, Ed Machina, Edligo, Cesar School, Discovery Centre International, Kumon, Mentes Notáveis, Pecege/MBA-USP, and Red House. In total, the event featured 19 presentations, 46 speakers, 11 live interviews with guests, 27 hours of content, and 1,786 viewers tuning in over the four days of the event.
Topics discussed included “The New High School Curriculum—What We’ve Already Learned in Practice”; “How Science Centers Became the Sensation of Informal Education”; “Self-Directed Learning and Equity, Inclusive Education, and Gender: Challenges for School Administration”; and others. All content, including the interviews, will be available on-demand on the platform through November. Access is free.
Visitation
Among the thousands of people who walked the halls of the Transamérica Expo, many were returning attendees, while others were experiencing Bett Brasil for the first time. This was the case for Lucas Garcia, a bilingual early childhood education teacher. Lucas notes that he was at the pavilion every day and that the lecture “Bilingualism: From Concept to Practice,” presented by Antonieta Megale and Marcelo Dalpino, was the most professionally valuable content for him. “I visited the event every day and made the most of it. There’s a huge array of new offerings, and we have many opportunities to better understand market trends. I’ll definitely be back next year.”
Friends Alessandra Carvalho and Samira Ramos also visited Bett Brasil for the first time. Both are early childhood education professionals and are attending the event to learn more about learning. “More than just technology, we’re looking for new learning approaches for children. Early childhood education is very important and requires constant improvement, and Bett is the best place for that,” says Alessandra.
Microsoft
At Bett Brasil, Microsoft, a global partner of the event, unveiled the new Windows 11, which offers productivity and inclusion features, as well as capabilities that address the challenges of the hybrid world and help students learn more with less stress. Windows 11 SE for Education, on the other hand, was developed with a focus on the cloud and aims to make learning accessible to all students in a simple and cost-effective way.
"After two years of the pandemic, people were eager to share their experiences and reflect on what the future will look like. The general consensus is that technology in education is here to stay, and there’s no going back—even with the return to in-person learning. In terms of demand, we’ve noticed that computers for students remain highly relevant, and the fact that we offer Windows computers at extremely competitive prices was very well received. In addition, tools for inclusion and gamification—particularly with Minecraft—were also in high demand, as was the use of data for decision-making,” commented Microsoft’s Director of Education, Vera Cabral.
Inclusive Initiatives
Visitors to Bett Brasil were greeted by a group of seven smiling and attentive young people, who were responsible for scanning credentials and handing out informational materials about the event. All of them are part of an initiative aimed at training young people with Down syndrome (T21) to work in customer service and reception roles at various types of events. The initiative is the result of a partnership between Almaroma and the nonprofit institute PAE—Programa Atendentes Eficientes—with support from the Atento agency.
Bett Brasil 2023
The event—which has already confirmed 53% of the brands that exhibited in 2022 for the next edition of Bett Brasil—has a confirmed date. It will take place May 9–12 at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo, with more auditoriums and other new features to be announced shortly.
Bett Online Conference - 3rd Edition
With the in-person edition of Bett Brasil having wrapped up in grand style, the event organizers are now turning their attention to Bett Online, which takes place September 20–22 and features more than 60 speakers and 15 hours of content, workshops, and learning sessions.
The theme of this new phase of the Bett Conference is “Inspire, Transform, and Co-Create the Education of the Future,” and it will be streamed on the Bettonline.com platform, featuring discussions on educational management, public policy, teacher training, distance learning, new educational technologies, information security, inclusion, and diversity.
