Bett Online Conference Will Highlight Key Trends and Challenges for the Education Sector

Bett Editorial Team

Just as in-person classes are irreplaceable, so too are in-person educational events. When it comes to discussing education—with educators and for educators—nothing can replace face-to-face interaction, whether in school, in online classes (synchronous or asynchronous), or even in the model that currently appears to be the most viable for the coming months—perhaps even years—namely, hybrid learning.

Drawing on educational experiences and practices in Brazil and abroad, Bett Educar—Latin America’s largest educational technology and innovation event—will present possible scenarios and trends for post-pandemic education at the Bett Online Conference, taking place September 22–24—see the full schedule here.

“The program for Bett Online focuses on post-pandemic education, covering the main challenges and solutions the education sector has faced so far, and we’ll be planning for a future that is also changing,” explains Maria Alice Carraturi, content director at Bett Educar.

The Bett Online Conference will bring together some of the most renowned educators and experts in education, management, and educational technologies from Brazil and abroad. There will be more than 50 speakers over three days, across three simultaneous sessions and 30 activities. The goal of this online event is to inspire learning, unlearning, and relearning, and to share practices and experiences that can help transform education, based on the current pandemic landscape and what lies ahead in the post-pandemic era.

At the end of each day, the event will feature inspiring sessions, one with Luiz Felipe Pondé, philosopher and columnist for *Folha de São Paulo*, who will speak on “Millennials and Their Fears,” and another with Edu Lyra, founder and CEO of Gerando Falcões, on the topic “Tamojunto!”

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic—and with an eye toward the post-pandemic era—Bett Educar’s Bett Online Conference program features essential topics for educators and the general public, such as educational management, public policy, teacher training, distance learning, new educational technologies, and information security for schools, students, and parents.

By addressing educational management, public policy, teacher training, remote and hybrid learning, and technology, the presentations highlight what is already being implemented in Brazilian schools and in other countries, while showcasing society’s new demands for both K-12 education and higher education.

To discuss the assessment of basic education in the context of the pandemic, the event will feature speakers such as Maria Helena Guimarães de Castro (ABAVE), Rossieli Soares (Secretary of Education for the State of São Paulo), Alexandre Lopes (President of Inep), and José Francisco Soares, Professor Emeritus at the Federal University of Minas Gerais.

With a focus on higher education, some presentations will cover trends, analyses, and overviews, featuring Fábio José Garcia dos Reis (SEMESP), Luiz Antonio Tozi (FATEC in São José dos Campos), Carolina da Costa (Insper), Marcelo Knobel (Unicamp), Vidal Martins (PUC-PR), and others.

Another prominent speaker at the Bett Online Conference is Maurício de Sousa, the creator of *Turma da Mônica*, who will speak about ethics and citizenship in schools.

FUNDEB

Other current issues affecting Brazilian education, the management of public education, and the new Fundeb will be discussed by experts such as Letícia Lyle (Camino Education), Frederico da Costa Amâncio (Secretary of Education for the State of Pernambuco), and Marcia Bernardes (President of Undime SP and Municipal Secretary of Education for Atibaia).

International Lectures

For the first time in Brazil, Bill Bass, an American and chairman of the board of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), is participating in the event during the session titled “Innovation in Education Beyond a Pandemic.”

The Bett Online Conference will also feature presentations by Mark Robison (University of Southern California); Alejandro Guerra Achem (TEC-Monterrey, Mexico); Peter Vesterbacka (Helsinki, Finland); Kenneth Casey Green (U.S.); Ignacio Sánchez (PUC, Chile); and José Weinstein (Diego Portales University, Chile).

Virtual Booths

Bett Online will also offer a virtual tour of exhibitors’ booths. In addition to products and services, participants will be able to watch company presentation videos, chat with a representative via live chat, download exhibitor materials (e-books), schedule meetings, and participate in free workshops offered by the brands during breaks between presentations.

The Bett Online Conference is sponsored by Google Cloud, Redação Online, Edulabzz, ACER, Editora do Brasil, Eleva, Somos Educação, SAS – Educação Platform, Conexia, Nuvem9Brasil, FTD Educação, Kumon, and ViewSonic.
