New Bett Educar Online Event to Discuss International Protocols and Plans for Returning to School
Bett Educar is hosting a new Online Conference on June 23 and 24. Over the course of the two days, eight renowned education experts will present new data on the current landscape and the future of education in the post-pandemic era. Unlike the previous edition, this time the virtual event will not be streamed on Bett Educar’s social media channels, but rather on an exclusive platform, with completely free registration and a certificate issued based on the number of hours attended. The Online Conference will be moderated by Bett Educar’s content director, Maria Alice Carraturi.
The new Online Meeting will continue to address issues related to the suspension of in-person classes and the dynamics of teaching during the period of social isolation, but will also include new approaches, such as scenario analyses, plans for returning to school in public and private school systems, and the presentation of international protocols.
Welcoming teachers and students back to school and recognizing the value of teachers will also be topics at this online event. On the first day, psychologist, writer, and speaker Rossandro Klinjey will give a talk titled “Teachers: Welcoming Others and Themselves to Start Anew”; on the second day, Leo Fraiman, creator of the OPEE methodology, will close the event with practical tips for welcoming students back to school.
“It is essential to reiterate the importance of teachers, who have gone out of their way to maintain a connection with their students and have dedicated themselves to making remote learning more effective. For this reason, they must be supported so that they, in turn, can support their students. In addition to these issues, we must examine international protocols and the solutions adopted by countries that are already reopening schools, as they can inspire us to make decisions for both public and private school systems,” emphasizes Maria Alice Carraturi, Director of Content at Bett Educar.
To discuss international protocols for the return to school, Bett Educar is bringing Maria João Horta, Deputy Director-General for Education at the Portuguese Ministry of Education, and Jarkko Wickström, Director of Operations for Brazil and Latin America at the University of Finland, to this event.
The return to school will also be the topic of two additional sessions: one focused on the plans of public school systems, featuring a presentation by Haroldo Corrêa Rocha, Executive Secretary of Education for the State of São Paulo, and Cláudia Costin, Director General of the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Educational Policy at FGV/Rio de Janeiro, former Director of Education at the World Bank, and a member of the Global Education Council at Bett.
The other session will address planning and preparation for the return to school in private schools and school systems, with insights from Valdenice Minatel, Director General of Education at Colégio Dante Alighieri, and Roberta Guedes, Manager of the Basic Education Chamber at ANEC (National Association of Catholic Education in Brazil).
“The purpose of this virtual meeting is to keep pace with this moment when we are all reflecting on the return to school, to learn from plans that have already been implemented, and to plan our protocols in order to ensure, first and foremost, the health and well-being of staff and students as they return to school,” explains Alice Carraturi.
The first edition of the Bett Educar Online Conference, held on May 12, 13, and 14, had more than 26,000 registrants, 60,000 people on its online platforms on social media alone—more than 12,000 on Facebook, more than 8,000 on Instagram, and more than 40,000 on YouTube.
