“Bett is more than just a trade show; it’s an opportunity to understand educational trends from around the world”: that’s how Rupert Daniels, director of the UK Department of Business and Trade, introduced the world’s largest education trade show to Brazilian public officials who traveled to London for the Bett Show UK 2026. But he emphasized that, above all, it’s the people that matter. “Many people think it’s an event solely about technology, but it’s really about human skills and how to develop them,” he said during an exclusive meeting for members of the Bett UK Delegation on Monday afternoon (the 19th).

For the British official, the meeting with the Brazilian delegation demonstrates that respectful dialogue between nations can continue to thrive even amid animosities around the world. “The geopolitical environment has never been so chaotic. But I am very pleased to see, right here in this room, that Brazil’s relationship with the United Kingdom remains strong and is growing stronger,” said the director.

The group of Brazilians, made up of representatives from Brazil’s public education system, also had the opportunity to hear a brief talk by Liam Maxwell, who was responsible for the digital transformation of the London government and is now a director at AWS. “The case of the British government is interesting because one side really wanted change, while the other side really didn’t,” he said. According to him, the change only happened because the people working in public services were listened to, and the technology was designed based on their needs.

Major global companies also had the opportunity to present some solutions during the meeting. Lídia Mantovani, an academic specialist at Pearson, spoke about how teaching English in public schools is possible and promotes greater equity. And representatives from Canva demonstrated how the tool can serve as an instrument for teaching and learning.

The Brazilian administrators made the most of the experience. “It’s definitely worth coming to London because there’s a tremendous exchange of ideas across various sectors and with various educational leaders. We’ll be able to return to our daily work with new ideas to improve our practices and management,” said Ana Paula Nunes da Silva, president of the National Union of Municipal Education Administrators of Paraíba (UNDIME/PB).

Renata Serpa, Educational Exchange Manager at the Recife Department of Education, also praised the activities on the first day in London. “It’s an opportunity to meet people who work in the same field as I do and to learn about the latest developments in education and technology. These are things I can bring back to Recife,” she said.
