Generative AI has come to perform in seconds what, for decades, was the task of students: researching, summarizing, translating, and solving exercises. This raises an urgent question: what kind of intelligence do we want to foster when part of the cognitive effort can be delegated to algorithms? The lecture discusses the role of schools in this new landscape and highlights what remains essentially human: critical thinking, creativity, ethical judgment, collaboration, and metacognition. Based on current evidence and international experiences, AI is presented as a tool for collaborative thinking, capable of supporting reasoning processes rather than replacing them. The lecture also proposes algorithmic literacy for administrators, teachers, students, and families—to address biases, misinformation, privacy, and ethical decisions. Ultimately, it is an invitation to rethink schools as spaces that create new ways of learning and teaching, without ignoring risks and responsibilities.
