Bett Show London: Brazilian delegation attends the event to discuss trends in education and technology
On March 23, 24, and 25, London will bring together experts, educators, and educational leaders at the Bett Show-UK, one of the world’s largest events on education, technology, and innovation. After a two-year hiatus, the international event is returning to an in-person format to showcase the main trends, experiences, and initiatives implemented, particularly during the pandemic.
The organizers of Bett Brasil, an event to be held May 10–13 at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo, have invited a number of guests to participate in the Bett Show-UK. The Brazilian delegation will include educators, experts, leaders, and businesspeople from the education sector, as well as administrators and secretaries of education. The Brazilian delegation from Bett Brasil will conduct technical visits to British educational institutions and will curate content for the event’s main sessions.
Bett is a global educational technology community that fosters ideas and connections to drive change and improve outcomes for teachers and students. “At every event, Bett focuses on the educational community and encourages participants to look beyond mere responses to crises, proposing interconnected themes centered on ‘shaping the future,’ with approaches that reflect the most urgent challenges and priorities for global education,” explains Claudia Valério, General Director of Bett Brasil.
For Adriana Martinelli, Director of Content at Bett Brasil, the focus is now on the new initiatives implemented during the pandemic and their implications for the future. “It will be three days of intense immersion in inspiring content, interaction with educators from around the world, and access to demonstrations of innovative products and solutions integrated with a wealth of educational content,” explains Martinelli.
Brazilian Delegation at the Bett Show in the UK
This year, Bett-UK will feature inspiring content, plenty of networking opportunities, and demonstrations of innovative products and solutions from leading global companies, suppliers, and EdTech firms. The organizers expect to welcome more than 20,000 visitors from over 50 countries and more than 400 companies in the industry.
In addition to showcasing global products and services, the Brazilian delegation will have the opportunity to meet with leading figures, speakers, and influencers in the field of education during the lectures and seminars at Bett UK. Comprising more than 60 people, the delegation is supported by the British government and sponsored by Lenovo and Red Balloon In School.
According to Carol Stancati, director of Red Balloon In School, the bilingualism and international focus of Bett London will be essential for keeping up with and understanding global trends in order to inspire Brazilian school leaders. “As a pioneer in teaching English to children in Brazil, it is part of Red Balloon’s essence to stay connected with the latest developments, keeping pace with the evolution of generations and language education. I believe our role is to serve as a window to the world,” explains Stancati of Red Balloon In School.
“Once again, Lenovo is participating in Bett UK to share ideas and promote the use of smarter technology to improve teaching and learning in the face of the challenges of recent years,” says Carolina Gomes, business development manager and educational technology specialist at Lenovo.
Educational Technologies, Mental Health, Games
In the area dedicated to lectures and seminars, education leaders will present pedagogical topics related to educational technologies and innovations—many of which were implemented during the more than two years of the pandemic—as well as student mental health, e-sports (video games) in schools, cybersecurity, and other topics.
Covering technology, mental health, well-being, and inclusion, one of the featured sessions at Bett-UK will be a presentation on “Online Sexual Harassment,” focusing on how children are the most affected in online environments and the spillover effects into the offline world, the main contributing factors, and the support available to primary and secondary schools in the United Kingdom.
The Forum on Inclusive Education, meanwhile, will address the topic “Pushing the Boundaries of Technology and Inclusion.” The discussion will focus on the integration of a variety of devices, platforms, and tools to enrich teaching and learning, and on how to ensure that students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) can benefit equitably from new technologies.
Still on the topic of inclusion and mental health, the session “An Inclusive Approach to Student Well-Being and Mental Health” will explore the impact of the pandemic on young people and educators at all stages of education. The panel discussion will present ideas on how to develop an inclusive approach to well-being, drawing on research and insights into key trends in students’ mental health needs.
The global esports ecosystem (video games in education) will be discussed in several sessions, such as “Esports: The Vehicle for Developing Future-Ready Skills,” which explores esports as a means of developing a range of digital and STEM-based skills and knowledge (STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics — Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in Portuguese). The idea is to combine knowledge from these four areas to build something that solves the proposed challenge.
In another session, “E-sports: What Educators Need to Know That Their Students Already Know,” the competitive and academic e-sports programs already taking place in schools in the United Kingdom and around the world will be presented, programs that are also based on STEM and the development of digital and creative media skills.
The Bett Show London will take place at ExCeL London from March 23 to 25, 2022. The full schedule is available on the event’s WEBSITE. Microsoft is a global partner of the Bett Show London and Bett Brazil.
