Latin America's Largest Education and Technology Event Takes Place Next Week in São Paulo
Bett Brasil 2022, Latin America’s largest gathering focused on education, technology, and innovation, will take place May 10–13 at the Transamerica Expo Center (São Paulo). More than 270 exhibiting brands are confirmed for the trade show, and over 260 speakers—who are leading figures in the education sector—will participate in the Bett Brasil Congress and the Administrators’ Forum. The organizers expect to welcome more than 30,000 visitors over the four-day event.
The event’s official opening ceremony, on May 10 at 11:30 a.m., will feature the Minister of Education, Victor Godoy Veiga; the president of SEBRAE Nacional, Carlos Melles; the president of the National Union of Municipal Education Directors (UNDIME), Luiz Miguel Garcia; the Secretary of Education of the National Council of Secretaries of Education (CONSED) and State Secretary of Education for the Federal District, Hélvia Paranaguá; the Vice President of the National Federation of Private Schools (FENEP), Amábile Pacios; and the Director of Bett Brasil, Claudia Valério.
Also on the first day of the event, at 4:00 p.m., Bett Brasil will host the premiere screening of the documentary “Education Today for the Future,” directed by journalist Patrícia Travassos. Following the screening, the director will participate in a discussion alongside two of the young people featured in the documentary.
On May 11, at 3:30 p.m., the “Transformative Teacher” award will be presented, featuring 12 finalist projects. The award aims to recognize educators and promote transformative projects implemented in basic education; it is designed and organized by the Significare Institute with support from Bett Brasil and Base2Edu. The awards ceremony will also feature an international guest: DJ and activist Rivkah, who, at just 14 years old, is the youngest electronic music producer on the planet. She will perform and share her perspectives on transformative education, technology, and the future of the planet.
On May 12, at 5:30 p.m., the highlight will be the“LED Movement – Light in Education” initiative, organized by Globo and the Roberto Marinho Foundation, featuring the panel discussion “Learning Toolkit: Technologies for the Future of Education.” The guests for the discussion are Alexsandro Santos, who holds a Ph.D. in Education from USP; Edgard Gouveia, an architect and urban planner with a postgraduate degree in Cooperative Games; and Camila Achutti, CEO of Mastertech.
Another highlight of the event is the presentationtitled “The Metaverse and Immersive Learning,” which will be given by META representative Letícia Jáuregui on the event’s final day , May 13, at 5:00 p.m.
More content - After a two-year hiatus from in-person events, Bett Brasil will once again bring the educational community together to discuss the role each of us plays in the future of education. With the central theme “Co-creating the Future of Education,” the Bett Brasil Congress is divided into four areas: Inclusion and Diversity, Educational Management for Equity, Social-Emotional Skills and Mental Health, and Innovation and Future Scenarios. The Administrators’ Forum, meanwhile, will provide a space for interaction among educational administrators and their peers, with a focus on sharing ideas and real-world experiences, covering both K-12 and higher education.

Highlights include the lecture “Emotion Management for Training Brilliant Teachers,” featuring author Augusto Cury, and the lecture “The Presence and Importance of Women in Education,” featuring Anna Penido, Executive Director of the Lemann Center for Leadership in Educational Equity; Débora Garofalo, Coordinator of the Innovation Center at the São Paulo State Department of Education; Ana Maria Diniz, Advisor at the Península Institute; and Adriana Junqueira, IT Director at NTT DATA Brasil.
Among the more than 260 national and international experts and educators are also psychoanalyst and USP professor Christian Dunker; the director of the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Educational Policy at FGV, Cláudia Costin; the founder and director of Gerar de Psicanálise, Vera Iaconelli; the poet and psychoanalyst Viviane Mosé; Sidnei Shibata, Khan Academy’s country manager for Brazil; Alexandre Schneider, president of the Singularidades Institute; attorney Alessandra Borelli; and Arthur Galamba, a Brazilian and deputy director of the King’s Brazil Institute (England), among others.
Atthe Managers’ Forum, highlights include the opening lecture on May 10, “Post-Pandemic Educational Landscape: Social and Economic Aspects,” which will be moderated by journalist Miriam Leitão, and the lecture “Innovation in Higher Education,” featuring Vera Cabral, Director of Education Development at Microsoft Brazil & Latin America; Celso Niskier, President of the Brazilian Association of Higher Education Institutions (ABMES); Simone Imperatore, CEO of Imperatore Management Solutions; and Flávio Murilo Oliveira de Gouvêa, Director of Digital Education at YDUQS/FGV.
Business - More than 270 exhibiting brands and education startups are expected at Bett Brasil 2022, including Microsoft, Lenovo, Pearson, Somos Educação, Eleva, and Conexia. The exhibitors—both domestic and international—will offer activities and experiences for visitors, featuring demonstrations of innovative products, services, and solutions that are expected to reach classrooms across the country in the coming years. Highlights in the exhibition area include initiatives that promote the use of technology and hybrid learning, active learning methodologies, Maker and STEAM education, the development of social-emotional skills, and bilingual education—which is being introduced in public and private schools, from early childhood education through higher education.
Free Content - The event will feature free activities offering highly relevant content and innovative solutions for the education sector, aimed at educators, school administrators, school operators, and state education departments. The program includes talks in the startup area featuring edtech companies, as well as panel discussions hosted by Microsoft in the main auditorium. This year, the event will take place in a hybrid format alongside Bett Online, where live lectures and interviews with guests will be streamed on the Bett platform.
