The 30th edition of Bett Brasil, the largest event for Innovation and Technology in Education in Latin America, also served as a meeting place and forum for collaboration among Brazil’s top public education administrators. Proof of this was the meeting of the Expanded Council of the National Union of Municipal Education Directors (Undime), which once again chose the event as a forum for strategic discussions involving the presidents and vice presidents of the organization’s regional chapters, as well as members of the national executive board.

The meeting, which took place on April 29 and 30, was attended by the president of Undime Nacional, Alessio Costa Lima; the presidents and vice presidents of the regional chapters; municipal education officials; institutional coordinators; and officials who serve on Undime’s Fiscal Council.

The program for April 29 included a presentation by the Sebrae Nacional team. During the event, Cecília Miranda, deputy manager of the Entrepreneurial Education Unit, presented initiatives focused on entrepreneurial education in schools. Next, Raíssa Sampaio, a technical analyst with the Territorial Development Unit, highlighted the role of education as a cornerstone of the Sebrae Entrepreneurial City Program.

The meeting also highlighted successful initiatives in the municipalities of Teófilo Otoni (MG) and Itápolis (SP), which shared their experiences in implementing educational policies focused on entrepreneurship.

Another highlight was the lecture “Mental Health Management for Educational Leaders, ” featuring psychologist Rossandro Klinjey and professor Jaime Ribeiro. The panel emphasized the urgency of addressing the emotional well-being of educators and students, as well as the shared role of schools and families in this process.

To wrap up the first day’s program, the discussions turned to the impact of artificial intelligence on education. Vera Cabral, Director of the Education Industry at Microsoft, and Marielva Silva, Vice President of Public Institutions at Positivo Tecnologia, presented technological solutions and innovations available to administrators and educators.

On Wednesday, the 30th, participants were given a first-hand look at the summary of the study“Final Years of Elementary School: Case Studies of School Districts,” conducted by Itaú Social in partnership with Undime. The study delves deeper into the data from the opinion survey conducted in 2023 and presents qualitative findings based on visits and interviews with municipal school districts.

The meeting concluded with internal discussions regarding Undime’s participation in events and meetings throughout the first four months of 2025, as well as a discussion on the regularity of the regional chapters and preparations for the 20th Undime National Forum.

Public Education in the Spotlight at Bett Brasil

The 30th edition of Bett Brasil also served as a forum for discussions relevant to the strengthening public education policies in an area dedicated to solutions and discussions related to public education.

The content program featured the participation of several municipal officials from across the country, including: Luziane Solon, mayor of Benevides (Pará); Luciane Aparecida da Silva Farias, municipal secretary of education for Castro (Paraná); Alessandro Gomes Soares, municipal secretary of education for Curvelo (Minas Gerais); Astrit Maria Savaris Tozzo, Municipal Secretary of Education for Chapecó (Santa Catarina); Antônio Cláudio Flores Patrícia, Municipal Secretary of Education for Osasco (São Paulo); Clewerton Cavalcante, Municipal Secretary of Education and Culture of Pilar (Alagoas); Marcela Arruda, Municipal Secretary of Management of São Paulo (São Paulo); and Armando Junior, Deputy Municipal Secretary of Economic Development and Labor of São Paulo (São Paulo), among others.
