On Wednesday, the 12th, Bett Brasil hosted an online event about the experiences of participants in the Brazilian delegation at the Bett UK and what the public can expect in terms of attractions and new features at Latin America’s largest Education and Technology event, May 9–12, in São Paulo. Hosted by Silvia Faro, the “warm-up”— “warm-up,” in English — brought together experts from the education sector for panel discussions via the Bett Online platform to discuss what they learned in London and their expectations for next month’s education fair.

Claudia Valério, director of Bett Brasil, opened the event and highlighted the strong turnout for the Brazilian delegation at this global Education and Technology event, which included more than 150 professionals from various educational sectors across the country. “This gave us a very positive sense of just how interested educators are in expanding their horizons. In addition, we received very positive feedback regarding both networking and knowledge expansion,” said Claudia. 

She also revealed some new features of Bett Brasil 2023, such as Ahead by Bett, an event dedicated to higher and professional education, and Bett Conect@, a networking and business program connecting educational institutions and providers of educational solutions. “We have high hopes for these initiatives and expect them to yield positive results for education,” said the director of Bett Brasil.

Next, the first panel of the day took place, titled “Lessons Learned and Experiences at Bett London,” moderated by Adriana Martinelli, Director of Content at Bett Brasil. The session featured Emilio Munaro, Vice President of Institutional Relations at ANEBHI (National Association of Hybrid Basic Education); Francisco Teixeira Junior, Manager of Educational Solutions at SOMOS Educação; Miriam Rodrigues, Superintendent of the Distance Learning Center at Mackenzie Presbyterian University; and Silvia Scuracchio, Pedagogical Director at Escola Bosque.

Guests shared their highlights from Bett UK in London

The guests discussed the highlights of their experience at Bett UK, such as the technical visits to educational institutions in the United Kingdom, the topics featured at the fair—Artificial Intelligence, ChatGPT, data security in schools, etc.—and their interactions with professionals from around the world. The audience at the warm-up event was also able to submit questions to the speakers via the Bett Brasil app.

“It was a fantastic experience we had [in London], and I’m already looking forward to Bett Brasil. The Brazilian delegation’s participation far exceeded my expectations, both in terms of networking and meeting new people,” praised Miriam Rodrigues, a first-time member of the Brazilian delegation. “I made some great connections, and we always learn something. I brought back a variety of materials, and it’s important that we spread the word,” added Francisco Teixeira Junior.

The second panel highlighted the attractions and new features of Bett Brasil 2023 and featured Idelfranio Moreira, manager of Teaching and Educational Innovations at the SAS Education Platform; Katia Smole, director of the Reúna Institute; Sandra Moura, secretary of education for Tarumã (SP); and Simone Telles, academic director of Univesp. The experts highlighted the topics they will address at the May event, including higher education, the new high school curriculum, artificial intelligence, and social-emotional support for educators and students. For Katia Smole, the warm-up event was a success because it showcased the fair’s highlights and allowed the public to learn about the innovations and topics that will be discussed at the education conference. “I think [the warm-up] encourages those who have never visited Bett Brasil and makes regular attendees want to come back. I enjoyed it, and I’m really excited and looking forward to May,” said Katia.

Simone Telles says that, for her, “just walking through Bett Brasil transforms people.” According to the director of Univesp, the event’s new models of dialogue are already breaking down various paradigms. “I come from higher education—that world of discourse and rigor—and I think it’s incredible when we can connect with people, participate in a conversation circle or ‘aquarium,’ that is, be close to them and understand their needs,” emphasized Simone, who added, “What I hope for from Bett this year is renewal and excellent ideas so that I can bring the innovations we so desperately want to public higher education,” she concluded.

Bett Brasil is coming soon! Latin America’s largest Education and Technology event will take place May 9–12 at the Transamerica Expo Center in São Paulo. More than 160 sessions are scheduled, including panel discussions, roundtable discussions, and workshops, featuring over 280 experts who will discuss the paths and prospects for the future of education.

Based on the central theme “Education and Work for New Futures,” the event will address the following thematic areas: Basic Education (Curriculum, Technology, Assessment, Educator Development, Learning, and Diversity) and Ahead by Bett (Employability, Hybrid Learning, Innovation, Initial Training, and the Integration of Continuing Education into the Curriculum). There will be eight auditoriums discussing these topics, in addition to the Administrators’ Forum, Bett Conect@, Bett Startups, and other attractions.
