On Friday (the 24th), the last official day of activities in the United Kingdom, the Brazilian delegation split up : one group took the opportunity to spend another day exploring the Bett Show, another group traveled to Oxford to visit the university’s press, and a third group went to Milton Keynes, where they learned about the Open University’s innovative approach.

Oxford University Press began operations more than 500 years ago and continues to publish high-quality books to this day. However, during our visit to the facility, representatives from the publishing house explained that their current work goes far beyond this traditional role; they also administer English proficiency exams, offer solutions for teaching English as a second language, and provide teacher training.

“The work we do is always in collaboration with the school and tailored to each one, because we know that their needs are different,” explained Naomi Moir, director of educational solutions. After learning about the publisher’s proposal that morning, the delegation set out to explore the city and the university’s campus.

Meanwhile, at the Open University that morning, faculty members and researchers from the institution gave lectures in which they presented the university’s distance learning model and discussed topics related to artificial intelligence.

In the afternoon, the delegation members were divided into two groups for workshops on the experiences and insights gained during their visit to the Bett Show UK and the Open University itself. At the end, the Brazilians shared their perspectives on education and its challenges, particularly in Brazil.
